How long does my clutch have left?

Postby hamishwats on Wed, 20 Nov 2019 5:12 +0000

Hi guys, I just bought a 2013 dual cab 4x4 with 150000km. I've noticed that the clutch doesn't bite until the last 2 inches or so as I'm bringing the pedal back. Is this an indication that the clutch is worn out? Can this be adjusted? Is there anything else I can look at to gauge how long the clutch has left?

I wanna do some trips in the near future and don't want to be stranded...

Cheers!

The manual said the pedal should be about 170 to 180 mm from the inclined floor. Ruler perpendicular to clutch pedal flat surface. take the carpet out for measuring (or minus 10 mm perhaps)
The pedal should bite at least 25mm from the lowest point (yours still meeting spec I am assuming)
pedal free play: 1-5 mm

I recommend you check how far the pedal travels from bottom before biting. If it is way more than one inch (25mm), then there may be a problem. The pedal height should be the next thing to check.

There is an adjustment under the pedal to bring the bite back up.
I love hybrid cars - means more fuel for me
