CANOPY OR TRAY SECURITY

CANOPY OR TRAY SECURITY

Thought I'd share an option for a little extra security for guys like me with a canopy though will work on anything with a door, such as custom tray backs, tool boxes etc.

Remove the rear seat and you'll find a gromet with wires running from your cabin into your canopy. Fed a single wire through, run it through between the tub & liner & bring it up in the rear corner next to your tailgate. From here run the wire to each window (3x, 2x Windows & Canopy Door).
Each door has micro switches the car uses for light switching & security when alarms triggered. Solder the wire into the rear passengers side micro switch & other end into the 3x window micro switches. When door is closed it opens circuit on door micro switch & does the same on window micro switches. When alarm sets if any switches close circuit (doors or windows open) this triggers the cars alarm.
I folded up z shaped brackets for window micro switches in 50x3mm alloy bar.
2x Windows: Z brackets were folded 40x20x40mm.
1x Canopy Window: Z brackets were folded 40x15x20mm.
Bracktes were pop riveted into window frames & used a negative wire with eyelet on micro switch bolt to canopy light negative. If a custom tray back etc this may not be required as it would be fixed to chassis.

Reason & Benefits:
1. Costs sweet fa.
2. Utilises factory alarm.
3. Doesn't allow car to be locked & beeps with a canopy window left open.
4. Once car is locked, if canopy window is busted open alarm goes off instantly.ImageImageImageImageImage
