Great build mate! top marks for thinking it out and building something that suit you.

Very practical design....I too have plans on my wish list to do something with a roof top tent one day...will keep your idea in mind.....

Im in awe.... I was thinking of making a a canopy and had a good look at both Alby's and ssidebes (Sibs or Sam's, ) ... With what I've just seen I reckon you just put the best of both worlds together with what would suit me. I'd only want a set of Jack-Off's with it so I could unbolt it at the campsite to go get wood and 4x4....

Hey Quinny seen these removable ute top campers

Had an email the other day. The guys from 4WD action want to do a photo shoot in a few weeks time with my ute and the camper. I was bloody stoked! I don't reckon I could have received much better an accolade than that!

D4D, your canopy is part of the reason I decided to build my own canopy, Big difference in quality between yours and mine though :? , mine was a 3 day build, sorta knocked it up on the days off.

See what happens when you are home and the Brides at work!

All Sh!t aside, fantastic work, well deserved recognition.

.......now what else can I copy? ;)

Thanks Guys. Photo shoot will be on the 27th of May at a 'secret' location near Lithgow. Hope they don't blind fold me when i'm driving there to keep me from finding my way back :o :? :D . Apparently it will appear in the 'Camping with your 4WD' and '4WD Action custom utes guide'.

Have to agree, it's a great piece of work and I am inspired to build my own too.

Does anyone know where to buy things like slide out cookers, basins etc?

Cheers

X2 Congratulations D4D you have done a very nice job with it, I am considering a rooftop tent but it sitting so high on my rig is a negative but will probably still get one.

Canopy faired well. It's near enough to dust proof however I did discover a few small water leaks that I was previously unaware of. A quick swipe of silicone soon cleared them up pretty well though. I am going to modify the table height so that I can get at the tubs on the left hand side with out having to slide the whole table out. This became a little annoying after a bit. The roof top tent was awesome! It even stayed 100% water proof when we copped almost an inch of rain over night at the Lion's Den. The velcro straps did give up the ghost under the strain of holding down tight the folded bed with all our bedding and pillows, so I replaced them with some straps that have cam lock style buckles for $7 each from Bunnings at Cairns. Other than that every thing was sweet. I even realised that the grab handles on the roof are the perfect size for tying down the crab pots we bought at BCF on the way up. Cool eh?

Thanks Macca. Any chance you could have a look at the cover for me please mate and tell me which issue number it is in. They have issues 5 and 6 on their web site but I don't think it's either of those.
So much for "You will be contacted when we write the article.....You will be sent several free copies of the magazine....Blah blah blah..."
