DPF Function Earlier Builds

Postby bloke&tackle on Mon, 23 Sep 2024 6:50 +0000

I’m currently hunting around for a used Hilux which will probably be an earlier build, 2015 - 18.
I’ve had a good search around the site but can’t really work out exactly where owners of Hiluxes built in those years stand regarding their DPF warranty.
I own a 2022 Fortuner which does an automatic burn whenever the vehicle decides it’s necessary. There is a manual burn switch, but if I try to activate it, I just get a message saying not necessary. It all seems to work well, so I don’t have to think about it.
There’s a lot of talk on here about DPFs still clogging and having to be replaced or cleaned. I also can’t understand what Toyota did with those earlier affected Hiluxes. Did they just install a manual burn switch? Does the vehicle do an auto burn?
What will Toyota provide in the way of warranty for problems with say a 2015 Hilux having DPF problems?
Regards Chris.

No Toyota replaced the 5th injector and body which is on the exhaust system near the dump pipe. Apparently it fixed it on earlier models. There was also a software update, if you're looking a buying one get the vin and take it to Toyota dealership and they will tell you if it has been updated.
Look up dpf here in searches ;) viewtopic.php?f=118&t=30637

OK I’ve had a good read through those threads Gypsy linked and got my head around the whole deal I think.
The only thing I’m not clear about, is whether Toyota are still supporting owners of early builds still experiencing DPF issues. Or have those owners been thrown to the wolves to pay for repairs themselves?
Regards Chris.

Probably no support now after 9 years but worth asking if you have the vin for the one you are looking at.
