Hey everybody I was installing the 7mil egr flow plate and when retightening the two nuts one of them snapped leaving half of the stud, how should i go about dealing with this? should i remove the egr cooler so that i have enough space for pliers and hopefully remove the entire stud? any help is greatly appreciated.
What a shit of a spot to brake a stud How much is sitting out of the side of the head There is a cupply of ways it depends on your skill and what gear you have You can pull the hole lot apart and get same vice grips on it Or you can drill a hole in the centre of the stud and use a ezi out with out pulling it apart
thanks for the reply whats an ezi sorry? would it be fairly easy to get it out once i get something onto it? there is roughly 1cm of stud sticking out but the thread only goes for half of that length .thanks again

What Dave is saying is that pliers are unlikely to help you and will most likely cause more problems. The other things Dave suggests are fairly standard procedures for removing a broken stud. If you don't understand this, you might consider seeking professional help?

Yeah, I got that after I posted my reply. What I've said remains valid. An Easy out is a standard tool used for removing a broken stud or bolt and if you're unsure of what you're doing you can very easily cause more problems.
By your reply you better go to a workshop to have it removed or you will have a bigger bill as Rob said Do you mobile mechanics in N.Z. that came to you. Saves on towing
