Yes nice stereo, but are you sure it will fit?? The majority of Toyota's here in AU don't use a generic double DIN enclosure, but have a specific "Toyota" shape and size just to make it easy?
They are available though..........

630, but it has Android Auto wireless which is what I was after. Ordered sail panel tweeter pods and plan on MB Quart component 6.5's when they arrive.

Good question, I noticed they sell Toyota specific head units in Australia, they're not available here for some reason. I'll be using some adapters that fill the small gap on the sides. But to answer your question, no I'm not sure it'll fit yet, but if it doesn't I'm good with fiberglass...

I'm fairly sure that a generic double din unit won't fit a standard Hilux dash fascia, but there might be an easier option that making your own? There are several options available that arn't too expensive.

That's a nice looking gloss black one! I got the stereo mocked up today with the Metra side adapters, looks pretty good and factory stereo brackets bolted to the Kenwood unit. I may tweak the adapter depth a bit but I think it'll work for now.

Also replaced the cigarette lighter with 2 more USBs straight to the head unit for charging/android auto etc.

Nice work - looks very neat! Some of the units that I've tried to fit were just too wide, but that one looks good.

Some of us here in AU fit the Nissan Patrol disc brake setup to our Hilux rear ends. It's a fairly cheap and easy swap, but the hand brake is the main issue with this rear disc setup. I've done the handbrake to mine, but haven't had a chance to fit the discs yet.

I've seen his handbrake setup before, amazing work! That's down my list a bit but a definite possibility.

Built up the harness last night and got the stereo installed this morning. Turned out great, all steering controls work, just have to wire up the backup camera this evening. Pic of the head unit is in full sunlight.

Very nice and neat install! Should work well with the steering wheel controls.
I find the camera really handy for hooking up the trailer - wouldn't be without it.

Cheers,

And it certainly does make hooking up trailers a breeze. Also, the back end of the Hilux is so high that it can be hard to see anything backing up...

During the stereo install while looking for a good place to pass through the backup camera wire I noticed the steering column seal (where it passes through the firewall) was severely torn. Ordered it from Amayama along with a few other small items I've been waiting to get. Next big ticket items are:

-Escape Gear seat covers
-Dynamat floor/back panel
-Molle seatback panels
-Anything I run into to finish interior.

Do you find the plate light wipes out your camera at night?
I am thinking of running the earth wire from the plate light to the positive side of the reverse lights so it gets its ground through the reverse light bulbs so when in reverse the plate light will turn off.
Will only work if you have incandescent bulbs in reverse.

Not that I have noticed, I'll be driving it this evening and I'll do a couple of tests to verify.

I just checked in a dark parking lot, I can't even tell looking at the backup cam when I turn the lights on and off, doesn't affect the cam a bit. (And yes I made sure the license plate lamps were working)
