Fitting smaller rims on a 2015 sr5 kun26r

Postby Adam13_13 on Thu, 15 Oct 2020 5:17 +0000

Has anyone fit a 16 inch rim on a 2015 sr5? Most tyre size calculators say only 17 inch rims will fit, a mechanic said it’s because the break calipers are bigger on mine than they are on the older models. I saw someone on this page said that certain 16 inch rims will fit, just wondering what offset and brand will fit and still be legal in regards to being too wide. Will be fitting 265/76R16 and has stock flares on. Cheers.

I've seen 16x8 dynamics on a current model. IIRC they were +20 and had round holes in the centres. Tyres were 265/75 KO2s

No clearance issues, but I didn't look closely enough to see how much clearance there was.

I use a set of 16 inch Grande Speedy alloys from Tyreright, when I swap over from the standard 17 inch rims and tyres for offroad travel.
They are matched with Cooper ST Maxx LT 245/75 R16 tyres and I've been using this set-up for outback travel for the past three years (though nothing in this COVID year!!)
No clearance issues.

On my EU spec hilux 2015 (Vigo) 16 inch dotz dakar ET10 didn't fit outside of calipers would hit rim, on the back of the caliper. 17" Dotz dakar ET20 missed the side of the caliper (meaning the side you look at when you remove the wheel by about 1mm. Decided to add 3mm spacers to allow for more clearance.
