04 1kz-te boost issue?

Postby Dave16389 on Tue, 29 Sep 2020 3:57 +0000

Hey all recently bought an 04 1kz-te fitted a boost gauge was boosting to 9.5psi, went and fitted a turbo smart boost controller turned it up and Max it will boost to is 12.5 now at about 2800-3000rpm?
Should these be able to go alot higher? I realise they have a cut out with the ECU at 14-15psi not getting and engine light or anything

How much more do you hope to get? That's plenty over the stock boost. If you're still using the same turbo maybe that's its limit? If you want more you will need to spend lots of $$$s for a bigger turbo and some other mods. Maybe a 3" exhaust will improve things.

3" on it already, 15 or 16 swapping out map sensor, would be heaps, thought these were good for about 20psi?

Engine can probably take it but you're trying to push more air into a two valve head! It can only breathe so much volume no matter how much boost. If you're trying for more power maybe transplant a 3.8 litre petrol engine or a 5.0litre V8.
