Symptom:
After travelling a reasonable distance in one gear, it becomes difficult to shift the gear lever out of gear.
This symptom usually occurs in 5th or 6th gear.
Cause:
Transmission oil is slung off the rotating gear against the main shaft lock ball. This oil accumulates behind the lock ball assembly and is slow to drain away. When driven in one gear for a period of time the oil build up casuing a hydraulic effect on the lock ball when a gear change is attempted.
Counter Measure:
To allow the oil to drain quicker a machined flat surface has been added to the lock pin.
