265/70/17 +10 offset

Need something to get you rolling?

265/70/17 +10 offset

Hi, I have searched and searched the forums for photos or reference to this offset and have had no luck. 265/70/17 +10 offset.

My question is I want to run mud tyres on steelies and want to finish flush with my factory guards/flares on 2012 4wd hilux.

Is this a suitable setup?

Thanks!

The maximum track change should be 50mm and as the original rims are 30P you are going 20mm each side so 40mm overall.

As for tyre diameter it won’t be legal on an original 15” wheel car but yours being 2012 should have had 265/65/17 standard so the 265/70/17 should easily be within the allowed 50mm tyre diameter increase allowed. Although you already have bigger brakes than the 15” wheel cars I’d still upgrade to 120 Series rotors and calipers (same as 2008/09 TRD) to overcome the extra load the tyres put on the brakes. Calipers are cheap new now, so are rotors. Just have to source some backing plates off a 120 Series.

These may rub too, especially without a 2” lift. If you run 30P 7.5” rims and 265/65/17 they fit so you may get away with 265/70/17. Others here will have tried 10P with that size tyre so should know more.

Cheers for the response! So technically if I measure 20mm each side on my current setup and it’s still within my guards I should be all good?

Yes, should be good or close enough not to raise concerns.
I might be wrong.

They will hang out of a 2005/15 SR without adding some sort of flare.

Factory flares, as in SR5 and you should right. Your measurements will tell you for sure. Rim width will also make a difference to section width and hence to whre the outside edge of the tyre sits.

Spirit level held vertically against the guard with one end on the ground, and steel tape to upper sidewall is the go. Suspension sitting compressed and normal
