What did you do to your Hilux today?

General discussion of basically anything Hilux related

Rang Toyota NZ to see if they were prepared to put a TRD supercharger on my 2014 V6.

They said that Toyota Aust would not provide them with a supercharger unless the vehicle was already supercharged (which it isn't). Would have to provide photographic evidence of the vehicle with the existing supercharger fitted, and photos of the VIN plate, cost would be NZ$12k +gst, and Toyota NZ would not install it - I would have to go after market installer.

There goes that idea …...

What’s wrong with aftermarket? Some on here have done it. Guessing for less than 12k too.

Had an Exedy Safari Tuff clutch fitted on my 2015 3.0 D4D double cab. We were at the limits of the previous clutch at 460nm. This is the result of today's tuning, 158.3kw and 550nm at the fly.

Had to fix my leaking diff so did the rear wheel bearings while I've got the axles out. What a bloody nightmare or a job it turned into! Fingers crossed the bearings I put in it are good cos I'm buggered if I wanna do that again!

Did you make something up to get the plates off or use the old fashioned method?

Ended up calling the local Toyota mob and borrowed the tool to press it all apart. Once we had the tool getting it apart was ok but out press plates are pretty dodgy so pressing it all back together was a bitch.

Yep, it really helps to have the correct tools. Mine are due and while I've fabbed the press tools, I'm still not looking forward to it. The front bearings are so much easier.

Sure will do ! They put the USB's in the glovebox but going to mount it in one of the blanks on the lower dash. Only thing I'd mention is the screen tilting option is useless in a Hilux as the dash leans back anyway - make the glare worse.

Front diff passenger side seal dripping oil, thought id be proactive and do it this morning

spent all morning doing both seals L&R, went really easy, too easy some may say... topped it up with the new squeezey Nulon oil, made it even easier... then just leaked out the passenger side like a sieve!!

The bearings felt fine the seal went in without any force or anything! i don't get it!

Does anyone have any photos of how far the CV goes in to the passenger side? maybe i just didn't knock it in far enough. its engaged well I'm just not sure if it needs some brute force to make it go in further?

Not all today, but did a partial egr clean , changed the timing belt, fitted an ARB frontier tank and swapped the rear springs for dobinsons 400kg constants and put in mrr shocks. Had the bcdc shifted from near second battery to in front of radiator and all the wiring fixed up.

Upgraded from the old 3 switch panel to the 7 hole panel and added a usb port in the aux power outlet hole that still needs power.

I found what i assume is the power outlet cable tucked up behind but cant seem to detect 12 volts, fuse has constant power but none at plug, would be handy to use existing cables instead of running new ones. Cables are solid pink and white with black. If anyone has any ideas im open to suggestions ImageImage

I ended up running my own wires from the battery. You can you a nice, beefy gauge with a dedicated fuse that way.
