Also thinking about modifying the hold down bracket to have another fixing like this.
What do you guys reckon overkill or nah? Just seems like it would take abit more of the weight going over bumps and whatnot.

I like the idea. If you can lessen the amount of movement the battery has when driving over terrain then you will decrease the force the battery can generate into the tray and subsequently onto the mounts, supports and body.

Dunno if that makes much sense, but it's my 2 bobs worth.

Cheers cobba! Nope that makes perfect sense! I’m picking up what you’re putting down!

Pretty much wired up the new ctek and all accessories this arvo. Still have a bit to go so I’ll put some pics up when I’m done.


Also I’ve finally decided to chase abit more power so I will be selling the steinbaur chip and the ozbush manual mapper If anyone is interested

If your worried about the aux battery weight, it is a relatively simple job to swap the positions of the batteries, the original starter cables are the perfect length to re rout to the rear corner to an AGM cranking battery that is lighter and more powerful than the original battery, just have to extend the cable that feeds the fuse box, then you can go as heavy as you want with the aux battery in the original batteries position.

You are 100% correct [emoji31] wish I’d seen this earlier. That thought never even crossed my mind.
Oh well, I’m completely wired the ctek and all accessories now cut to length.
I’m fairly happy with the extra support on the battery tray. Only time will tell I guess!!

Bang on the money Mate! Have a couple of mates who have had them for awhile now and are very impressed! And redoing the dual battery system I realised how much extra crap I have in the engine way. Really want to tidy/simplify it all

Managed to get the ctek in and wired up before the weekend!
The ctek is so simple and easy to install. And performed as expected over the weekend. Again only time will tell though!

Modifications to the tray and bracket so the pre fuel filter bracket can sit properly and clear everything.

Also mounted an Anderson plug in the bullbar with a built in voltmeter so I can see the output of the panels and adjust the positioning accordingly

Haven’t fit the pre filter yet as I’m going to do the full intake manifold clean on the weekend and thought I could use the extra room.

Then I’ll fit pre filter and book her in for the remap, can’t wait!
Also in the process of designing a half canopy with roof top tent and boat loader.
So I’ll be busy for the next couple of months!

Keen to see this canopy. Are you planning a fixed canopy or a jack off unit? Been toying with the idea of a jack off canopy for my dual cab or potentially for my single cab I'm plannong to buy soon (shhh, don't tell the misso that, haha).

No just a fixed one unfortunately, if I had a tray I would definitely be making a jack off one!!
I did think about it early on, making one that sat inside the tub and jacked out. But it’s a lot of wasted space For the indents around the wheel archers. So decided against it.

Hopefully down the track I’ll get a quad on a little trailer so just leave the car setup and cruise around on the quad to go fishing and whatnot.

But I am also planning a few little tricks and hopefully will be able to pack/pack up the awning and tent quicker than I can roll up my swag (works in my head, may not work in the real world haha)

I remember reading in an old issue of 4WD Action of a bloke that used a fibreglass canopy on his tub and modified it to be a jack on/off unit. If i get some time I'll go through my old issues tonight after work and see if i can find it. His truck was a BT-50 (i think).

If i can find it I'll let you know, might provide a few hints.

Spent the weekend stripping the intake manifold and cleaning it.
I had previously done the egr valve and elbow but was too scared to do the full clean.
Cannot believe how clogged it was. I wish I took some pictures before but my hands were filthy.

Also threw the new pre filter in when I was done too.

Started first go after about 5 seconds.
Now hopefully with the egr blocked and the catch can in I will never have to worry about it again!
Oh and also the roof top tent arrived, quickly mounted her on temporarily caus I need to use it next weekend.

How much better does the lux feel now you’ve cleaned the manifold out? Mine just runs so much smoother and quieter.
Your a bad influence seeing your posts on here. My mrs cant get me out the garage for tinkering and modifying mine

Very neat wiring there mate, split conduit everywhere, and only a minimum of wires.

I think it made a huge difference!
Whilst I had it apart I removed the steinbaur chip and I feel like with out the chip now I have more power down low.
Lost a little bit up high but definitely a big improvement down low!

Hahah glad to see I’m not the only one getting in trouble! [emoji12]

Thanks crit! I do like everything to be neat and tidy, still need to put the start assist solenoid in and I would like to take all the positive wires off the main battery terminal when I’m at it.
Also going to swap out the relays and fuse box on the other side to a more stock looking unit (when I can find some time)
