Squid, legally i'm still only able to carry 350kgs cos i haven't put brakes on it yet but a few weeks back i had exactly 1 tonne of timber flooring in it and it did it no worries it was just a bit bouncy but the shocks should have that sorted now.
I have no idea how much weight you'll be able to carry but two tonne payload seem a lot for a 7x4 trailer, so realisticly you could be looking at 2.5t gvm, personally if i was to build a trailer to carry that sort of weight it would definatly be tandem axle as they are so much more stable.

Hi Shane, love the trailer. Just picked up new 2016 extra cab, had dropside put on and plan to do the same to my tub. Quick question, how did you work out measurements for chassis/draw bar please?

Most Toyota dealerships have these tubs laying around and will usually sell them cheap as just to get rid of them.

Hey Shane, or anyone.

Been a long time since this thread had any love, just wondering if you had a measurement on your trailer chassis rails ?
I am just about to start building mine.
Have you guys all kept your chassis for trailer same width as car chassis ?

I think I’ve potentially done something wrong, I’ve only got 950mm outside to outside because of the mounting holes at front of tub.

Haha yeah that’s got the tail lights hangers and bits and pieces in it [emoji28]

Still unsure if I should keep chassis same width as Hilux or just go from gold lol

That will be fine Mate as you won’t be able to put as much weight on the outside due to the wheel arches

Is there a maximum distance I can have the spring from the wheel ? Everything I’ve read is saying 50-100mm
If I put is there it’s like 250mm lol

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake [emoji513] [emoji28]
