Wheel advice for 2004 single cab trayback 2wd

Postby AzD on Sun, 10 Jun 2018 9:53 +0000

Hi all
I am hoping for a bit of advice on wheel choices.
Ive recently bought a 2004 single cab trayback 2wd. My first hilux :D
It came with 16in CSA Edge rims with passenger tyres. Not a fan for a couple of reasons.
I wanted to put standard wheels back on but they are proving hard to come by.
I'm liking the look of oldschool ford jellybeans or 12 slotters in 14x7.
I know the stud pattern is right but am unsure on offset, backspacing or centrebore.

Does anyone know if there would be any issues with these?
Or any suggestions (not too spokey) i also like dynamic rounds for a new option.

Cheers for any help
Az

You are probably better off with 15" rims as you will have a better range of tyres to choose from.

Have a look on Performance Wheels website:
http://www.performancewheels.com.au/pro ... nt-wheels/

A set of 15x7 Challenger, Charger or Superlite would look good. They do these in +25 in Challenger and Superlite but only +10 in Charger. They will be able to advise what centre bore you want for a 2WD Hilux and also what offset. Just be careful of load rating of the rims, find out what your maximum rear axle load is and divide by 2. To be fully legal the rear rims need to be at least that in load rating, which may well force you into steel wheels

Thanks for your reply HK.
I like the look of the chargers & 12 slotters.
I'll contact them for a price.

I'm on a bit of a budget so was hoping to pick up some used ones :(

Just buy black Sunraysia style, they are cheap, probably half what you’d pay for used Ford pattern old mags.
