From what I have seen of safari across all makes and models they design their snorkels to be bigger then any part of the factory air inlet.
Most air boxes are heavily restricted. The Water trap is a huge restriction in air flow on the diesel lux air intake both 5-15 and 15+
That’s why on the ARMAX model they actually cut it out completely. You have a unrestricted 4” air intake from the ram head right through to the genuine intake on the air box.
You gotta remember to get the full potential of your system you have to change air intake engine chip/ecu and remove the exhaust restrictions. Then the engine breaths easily.
This is common sense basically if you are close to your GVM towing etc. you want clean unrestricted air flow throughout the entire system to improve fuel economy and let the system work easier.
I have just started a trip from syd to darwin and back. My fuel economy unloaded is around 10k per L. Now I’m loaded it’s 8. So anything I can do to improve engine performance is the difference between making it to the next Servo and stealing a jerry can.
