When you buy the car they put some shiny stuff like meguires that makes it look good for a few weeks till it fades off. Not Happy
Not sure if it's related, but I've noticed with my 2016 (white) it has all little orange dots that look a bit like rust, seems like something has gotten onto the paint, it's on my bonnet, the top edge of both doors etc. I thought maybe I have parked somewhere for this to happen, but a friend's brand new hilux aswell has the same orange defects on it.mcflux wrote:Hi all,
My Hilux's bonnet has a paint defect smack-bang in the centre. I discovered it when hand-washing the car last week (I normally just chuck it through an auto car wash). Ignore the larger black area, that was me just rubbing the **** out of that area with a sponge, that's just a super-shiny bit from all the buffing - I was assuming originally the defect was birdsh*t.
It appears to be the clear coat coming off & the exposed black paint has a bit of surface etching in it. I've had birds bomb the car & even had tree sap once - but none of these had created any defects like above. It's not a stone chip or any other kind of physical damage.
This got denied through warranty (worth a try, & not the point of this post to focus on the warranty denial) but I thought I'd just share this with you all - check your panels regularly! I'll have to get on top of this soon, I guess I'll take it to a local auto-repair shop & see if they can touch it up. I can live with the defect appearance-wise but I don't want it to propagate.
Cheers
Dave
