Carried on up to Kalumburu
They ask tourists to leave their caravans at Drysdale Station
This is the reason why the road gets messed up:
Fuel reasonably priced - thought it would cost $3+
Stopped off to get a permit - $50. The rangers do a pretty good job maintaining the track and cleaning up rubbish
Carried in thru to Honeymoon Bay
$15 a night for
To get away from everyone drive around at low tide to the right hand side of the beach.
Had that whole stretch to myself
One of the crossings up to Pago. Walked this one
Old USAF fuel dump
A bit of history still visible
Whats left of the old Pago mission
One of the rock art sites
On the way out one of the Station trucks couldnt get enough traction up a jump-up
I pulled up - he asks me "Mind giv'n me a tow"
I look at him sideways and think...
seriously? Thats a triple trailer Mack with a f*^!en dozer on the back
As it turns out I know the bloke and his missus. I found his phone on the road some months back
He said he usually gets a run up but the jump up is so pot-holed he couldnt take it at speed.
"Just need a little pull up"
He backs up"down the hill, drops a trailer but keeps the dozer on
"Low and slow mate"
Hand my phone out the window to his wife - thinking
'photos or it didnt happen'Not the first time a Toyota has pulled him up or out of a fix
Obligatory pic
