after my AUX battery going flat after two days with the fridge on over New Years, I decided time to go solar.
two ways I looked at things, I could either pay through the nose for redarc or look for something with same capability’s but more along my budget.
So I settled for the Projecta IDC25 as my management system.
Which after taking out my AUX battery tray and getting to it with a grinder fits perfectly in my engine bay mounted on the side of the battery tray.
Probably could of taken a better photo.
For my link between solar panel and management system I just used a 30amp auto re-close, which is mounted to the fire wall in the top of the picture.
I also added a second Anderson plug so I can use a fold out solar panel when I’m parked up in the shade.
Solar panel I decided for a 135W (from projecta) as it’s size was pretty decent on my pioneer rack and didn’t want to be waiting for one. It leaves enough room to mount my maxtraxx next to it. But I do loose a fair bit of space because I was unable to mount under the roof rack.
Battery is comfortably charged now, rig ready for a long camp !
Next on the list I will be removing the jungle of wiring under my dash, putting in a new fuse box and re wiring all switches to neaten it up. Possibly change switches. and look at adding a inverter to my rear box.
what size inverters are people running?
I’m thinking 600W. but I’ve heard of people using 2000W-4000W ? is that a touch overkill ?
