Two different things bondy.
Catch can is to clean up the oily fumes that are emitted from the crankcase. Those oily fumes are recycled straight back into the air intake system at the intake side of the turbo. From there they gum up the entire intake tract all the way to the intake ports in the head.
The EGR system recycles a percentage of exhaust gas back into the intake system as part of emission / pollution control.
Although both systems divert gasses into the intake tract, they are seperate systems with different purposes.
