Seems cheap enough. Never saw his kit for sale until now. Too late now got everything I need. Wonder what his lead times are. Talking with Rob who had the kit fitted to his ute and waited 18 months for the kit to be sent.

Is it cheaper to do it this way

Or the way the other bloke did it with a patrol chassis?

I know either way there still going to be expensive and time consuming

If you already have the vehicle to start with (and have probably already put money into mods and accessories) then doing a SAS would be cheaper and way easier than doing a Patrol chassis swap.

I bought the Patrol and the 2WD Hilux for the sole purpose of doing the chassis/cab swap and trust me, it was a shit load of work. Just have a flick through the build thread - link in signature below...
Had I have not been able to do all of the work myself it would have been extremely expensive. Way more than a SAS due to so much having to be changed modified, or custom made. Chassis extension, new cross members, engine mounts, gearbox mount, body mounts, steering shaft mods, custom fuel tank, fuel lines, brake lines, hand brake, exhaust, custom tail shafts, custom radiator, etc. The list goes on and on! None of this is needed for a SAS except the steering shaft mods.

Thanks fellas

Well I reckon the SAS kit is the way to go

The parts arnt to badly priced its just trying to source the rest of the stuff off an 80, and we all know what wreckers are like $$$$

Sharp, I got my kit from King customs but he is finishing up at the start of March to progress in the 4wd world. Yeah I got lucky and found a complete 80 series front diff with everthing I needed.

Hi Toddie,

Just joined the forum cause I had a question to ask... This is the sexiest extra cab I've seen to date..

Do you remember the dimensions of your tray, and did you chop the rear at all? Looks a bit shorter than a standard tub?

Pretty much read the entire thread a while back but can't remember and can't be bothered reading over 56 pages again!

Cheers!
