At the end of the day, if a car thief wants a car bad enough, they will take it. At best all you can do is slow them down.
I worked with a guy in Sydney who had a immaculate XE Falcon ESP, he used to chain it to the floor of the garage, and with that, he had freaky auto electrical work done to the car. From memory, it was a certain combination of foot brake/indicator/headlight combination that had to be in a certain switch position before the car could be kicked over.
Unfortunately we now live in society where everyone has a sense of entitlement, and no one wants to actually work for anything anymore.
Me personally, if my Hilux was stolen, I wouldn't want it back, I would be more pissed of over the fact that the personalised plates would be missing. Here in NSW, once they are reported lost or stolen, they are flagged as such, and they are never re-issued.
