Hi, I have been waiting for the new Hilux Revo for some time. I just got the quote sheet and was surprised to notice that our market (Panama, Central America) is getting the 8th gen body with the current 1KD-FTV 3.0 D4D mated to a 5 speed A/T with a shifter.
The trucks looks just like the Hilux Revo inside and out, except we did not get the projector headlights or DRL´s and the bonnet has a scoop for the top mounted intercooler of the good ole 1KD. I did notice the longer flatter rear spring pack. I wonder if we are getting the new frame or just the new body mounted over the older frame.
The dealer has been clever and have dubbed this model ´´Hilux New Generation´´ and do not call it Hilux Revo as marketed in Thailand. The previous top of the line offering was the 2015 Hilux Vigo with the 1KD-FTV and 4 speed A/T (no shifter), so they usually adopt the Thai market´s name.
I was wondering this is happening in other markets or if anyone know the reason for this or are as puzzled as I am.
For the time being i am keeping the Vigo as I was interested in the new GD engine and 6 speed tranny.
