GazaShaggy wrote:It was piss easy to install did it myself removed grill and fed it from the top then you can hold it up against the mounting locations (no lifting just hold it forward) do the bottom up finger tight then the top ones nip up then remove bottom ones and feed through with the fairlead I pulled the winch up a bit after nipping up the top ones so it wasn't resting on the bar at the bottom.

Note: you will need two longer bolts to go though the fairlead then into winch, from memory there 35mm normal you need them 10mm longer or if you space it out like I did you will need even longer ones.

Excellent timely advice for me!

Nice build thread mate enjoyed the read and look forward to more.
You mentioned earlier about replacing the indicator driving lights in your ARB bar, did you find some good ones? LED maybe, need some new ones for mine.
Why not? Have a go!

Was going to do it myself but time started playing a problem needed it done by Easter and had some family issues anyway all done the only major issue is the wheel weights hitting the swaybar on full lock I'm going in after work Tuesday to get the stick on weights instead and wheel alignment with as much castor as possible.
The other issue is the shudder when taking off I've read a 1 degree wedge should help if I don't do this for a few weeks including 4wd'ing will this cause any problems?

G'day mate nice build! How did you go with the shudder and installing the 1 degree wedge? I've just had my rekon gear installed and have the same shudder towards the end of the first gear. Did you get the wedge installed and if so did it fix the shudder? I've spoken to Matty and he said it's pretty rare for anyone to have to play with the tailshaft after a rekon kit is installed.

Re: Shaggys Build - Roof rack and Sliders

Postby GazaShaggy on Sat, 10 Jan 2015 2:07 +0000

Haven't done much to her lately but got a couple of new things on her now.

Sliders finally arrived after waiting 5 months so there on also got myself the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform with a 2.5m x 2.5m awning that came with a free 2.5m x 2.5m add on that attaches to the furthest away from the car side and can just drop down to cover it in or use the included legs and have 5m of awning cover.
I was a little worried that the 2.5m awning might look to big on the side but I don't mind it.
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me when I set the awning up so I will get photos later.

I also plasti-dipped some of my plastics to look like the SR5 got the idea from someone else on the forum, on the drivers side window control area I printed up "Shaggys" and stuck that under the plasti-dip for something a little different.

I wired in a glove box light as well I'll get some photos of it tonight.

Hey Shaggy, what legs did you use for your roof rack? I can only get track mounts or pad and clamp style through my work with rhino. Lol. Unless they aren't telling me something haha.

Cheers guys.
I've got the track mounts, they are tracks that pop rivet into the groove in the roof. I've got all the paperwork which I would assume has part numbers if you want.

And the door switch had some left over from doing the under bonnet lights.

hey mate,

love the build, just got a few questions for you about your tray.

How do you find the length ? as im trying to decide between 1800 or 2000 long tray by 1850 wide.

Do you have any pro's or con's for a 2m tray.

Also have you had any issues with towing or the back of the tray scraping when 4WD.

Im just around the corner in Adelaide and would love the opportunity to have a look if that suits you.

Cheers
