Mulders N70 Build.

Postby Mulder030 on Sat, 30 Aug 2014 12:37 +0000

Hello all,

As I am now an owner of a Hilux i thought i would drop a quick "hello"and "thank you" on the page. I had my Hilux on order for months and yesterday I took delivery of my 2014 SR5, couldn't be happier.

Ordering this ute and choosing accessories was made a lot easier with the help of everyone on this forum. So.....Cheers!

just to give a quick overview I settled on the 2014 SR5 in the Luster colour.
Steel tray and the leather interior were first on my list. Other genuine accessories fitter with the bonnet & window protectors, Hilux Mats, electronic rust protection and towbar.

It then went down to ARB for a little play date.
OME 2" Lift, Outback Roof Console, ARB compressor, ARB front locker, ARB Deluxe bullbar & GME TX4500 UHF were all penciled in for the install. Unfortunately the bull bar and locker went on back order. This prevented the shopping list to be completed by the pick up date. So another trip to ARB will be on the cards when the last 2 items come in, Not that i need any more reasons to go there.

Future plans are to get dual batteries, snorkel, roof top tent..... and the list goes on. All in all my partner and I just want a good tourer that will be capable of taking us to the cape and back next year along with any other tracks we desire. Just couldn't go past the bench mark of the hilux as a starter.

Hope to meet a few of you all out and about!

Thanks again Lads

Looking good, though the bull bar will definitely help improve that.
Lucky bugger! Mine doesn't fit into the garage without a lift, though it looks like yours is a tight fit!

Thanks guys,

Yeah Arlo was a very tight fit, Had to remove the ladder bars from the top of the tray so it wouldn't hit. Had to lift the door by hand to get her in the first time.

Mulders N70 Build.

Postby Mulder030 on Mon, 23 Apr 2018 6:19 +0000

G'day All,

Its been a very long time since the last update. But with the inaugural Cape trip fast approaching the ute is starting to transform more so then ever.

We'll be standing on the tip sometime mid August. So I have a lot left to do and little time to do it in.
over the last month or so I have bought and fitted some Dominator 4x4 sliders. (see below)
Had Dual batteries fitted (BCDC1225D) along with the Redarc Dual battery gauge, which is mounted in a place i hadn't seen before (see below)
bought a fold out solar panel.
Finally purchased some decent tyres KM2's. Which i got for a steal, 5 x brand new from a car dealership that ordered them incorrectly for a client. Scored them for $900 :D They will be going on in the next week or so.

Lastly I confirmed and paid a deposit on a canopy to be made.

I am trying to document my build in a vlog sort of style and chucking them up on YouTube, So if your ever board. Go check out 'Minute with Mulder'. You'll see my Ugly mug, Subscribe along if you want to watch the transformation and trip! or let me know if you keen to see it and I can paste a link.

I'm going to try and keep this up to date with the progress.

Looking good, make sure you post some pics with the new shoes on!

I think mine is the same colour, unless it changed since 2012. I didnt like it at first but it has grown on me since and now I quite like it. Don't see them around often.

Cheers Terror, will do
Yeah I was exactly the same. The Mrs talked me into it and then it was discontinued on future models. But I honestly love it now. And as you said hardly see the same colour around!!

Time for another Update.

Since I last posted I have picked up 2 big ticket items and 1 smaller but necessary item.

Starting with ARB Front recovery point.
I really struggled to find any other options for the front recovery point for the 2014 hilux. Non the less, it was something that is needed. So this will be put on the shelf until i purchase a Winch and fit all at once.

2nd
MSA Drop slide for the 60L engel.
These things are bloody huge! however will make life so much better!
Picked it up second hand off facebook (still cost me an arm and leg)

Lastly and most importantly.
1200L canopy. So I went the shorter style as I wanted that open space on the tray for things like firewood, jerry cans, gas bottle, etc. All the things you don't necessarily need to keep out of the elements.
Flat sheet door, and checker body to change it up a little. It will also allow me to be able to sticker up the doors (or wrap, etc) Full detail and thorough explanation in the link below.

Anyway. If you want to see a little edit of the lot.
go check it out on my YouTube Channel,
Chuck a like and a comment on there for me :)
