Rear end squeak

I'm at my wits end trying to identify the source of a rear end persistent squeaking - admittedly after about 7000km of offroad travel with canopy on the back and towing a camper trailer.
Have ARB (OME) suspension kit fitted, plus air bags, but can't see anything obvious that is remiss with this.
Sounds like metal on metal, and occurs when driving now on bitumen (but maybe I was just not hearing it on the gravel).
Doesn't appear when first starting off, but after getting underway for 50km or so it comes back and is there for every minor undulation in the road surface.
But of course I can't hear a thing when walking alongside the vehicle at slow pace with the Mrs driving, and can't demonstrate the problem to a mechanic.
Any ideas ???

I had this with my OME rear spring. Not sure how to explain it but it was the bracket that holds the spring pack together towards the rear of the pack. It's like a u shape going around the pack. It was slightly warped to one side and rubbing on the side of the spring when it flexed. Just use a crowbar or something and bend it off the pack.
My squeaked for ages and was really annoying. The mechanics were spraying it with a spray grease to help as they had no idea what it was either.
Hasn't made a sound since I did it 6 months ago.

Just a thought, there is another thread on here for a rear end squeek and it turns out sometimes it's the spare tyre having worked itself loose. Maybe this is your issue

Spring gatherers that it! It had worn a groove out of the metal it had been doing it for so long. Like a typical male I kept ignoring it thinking it would go away! Haha

X2. I had the exact problem with efs leafs.

Thanks for the suggestions folks - will have a look at the rear spring packs as I also have OME, and it sounds like that might be the problem. Will also check the tightness of the spare, just in case, though I think the sound is too metallic for that to be the explanation.

Had the same thing and spent ages looking for it until i finaly realised it was the locking mechanism on the tailgate, paint had worn off the little hook and was rubbing and squeeking.
