One of my good mates took his 2012 sr5 into Toyota and they said they did a wheel balance and 2 of the rims had buckled. They claimed it was caused by harsh four wheel driving to which his car has only seen sand and said he was up for the new rims at a cost of $1200 each.
They put this on his service report and everything, so he drove his car a few hundred metres up the road to bob jane where he was getting a rotation done and they balanced everything up and there was absolutely nothing wrong.
Sure enough he drove straight back to Toyota and spoke to the manager to which he replied "our machine tested it and that's what it said."
He said he was taking his car elsewhere and they threatened he would not have any warranty if he did that.
Long story short he now has a mate servicing it and still has the same rims on it.
My concern is some ordinary joe/jane that has the same thing happen to him/her and has to fork out $2400 because they are lying to customers.
