Under bonnet insulation

Under bonnet insulation

Postby Roofes on Sun, 02 Feb 2014 9:34 +0000

I had a search but can't seems to find anything.
The insulation under the bonnet of my car is on its way out. I was wondering is it there for sound insulation or does it also keep the heat from the exhaust and motor from damaging the paint on the bonnet.

Is anyone running there car without one?
My car is the v6 so maybe under bonnet is cooler than the oil burners with hair dryers.
Any ideas?

You can buy stick on stuff but the gen replacement is well priced and no mucking around.

Ha ha hurts sometime too. Well almost all the time.
But honestly. All the mucking around to put something different up there. Just get the original.

Dynamat make underbonnet stuff, you can get a pack on ebay, or most ICE installers. It just sticks to the panel, not much mucking around involved.

Anyone removed the plastic clips/plugs holding up the under-bonnet insulation? Just lever them off I presume? Are they destroyed in the process? I want to install some led lights, but concerned with getting the clips back in.
