I still think its a broken leaf on the spring cause I had the same noise on my mk4 hilux that got right on my tits and thought I`d checked everything but a mate spotted it straight away :)

i have that jingle. it's most prominent when you're just coasting up to a stop or about to turn a corner. clutch disengaged. no brakes applied. several of my favourite mechanics couldn't fix it even though they could hear it clear as day. it sends me around the twist daily.

I get this regularly when im off road. Its always rocks jammed between the backing plate and the rotor.

Sometimes driving in reverse can dislodge them. Otherwise they usually grind themselves away... or you can pull the wheel off and remove them properly

Jingling sound whilst rolling.

Postby Blackie2008 on Tue, 29 Oct 2013 4:53 +0000

Mine only does it when I turn left...
It's a tinny creaking sound that I thought was the exhaust hitting on the heat shield but I've had a look and I can't see it contacting anywhere.
Baffling :/

What Stef said - that makes a nice jingle.

Is it a jingle or a squeek or a squeel or a grind? :geek:

Got it!!!

Was the brake pad wear indicator touching the disc..... Funny that it made a jingling sound but it was only doing its job!!!

Just bent it out a touch to stop the noise and new pads are ordered.

PLN did you have any luck finding this? Sounds very similar to what's eating me. I have a 2007 D4D SR5 and I have an intermittent click-clock, jiggling sound coming from the deep front right corner of the dash for a couple of years. Sounds like a bit of plastic vibrating against another bit of plastic but almost has a liquid / electrical element to it, like a relay clicking or a cable twisting, but it's quite irregular. It occasionally goes quiet for a bit but a rough road (I live up 15kms of gravel) brings it right back. I have pulled out the instrument cluster, stuck my hands in there while driving, removed the piece at the base of the windscreen and checked for loose plastic / stones, stuffed foam down the A pillar and removed the plastic panel by the driver's right foot. No luck. I've stopped short of a full dash strip or exterior panel removal but that's next on the list. It's consuming me and becoming a 'sell the truck' type rattle - crazy for a vehicle that has otherwise given 120,000 trouble-free kms. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

G'day Guy's,
Well first post on this forum and looking for that dogging jingle sound in my '95 hilux ute. Now it only happens when I back off the throttle and talking with the local mechanic he said clutch in with noise is the throw out bearing, clutch out and noise it's the front input bearing.
Now the ute drives fine but that dreaded noise has me beat, first I thought it could be the tailshaft support bearing so duly changed that for a new one only to find that wasn't the problem. One thing I did notice when first driving off the noise isn't there but a few K's down the road it starts.

Any help with this would be great as it's really got me stumped.

Regards Ruddycrazy

Hi Spitfia, nope no winch fitted, now as as I press the accelerator the noise stops then when idling down the noise starts with a clang clang clang. Press the accelerator it stops, rinse repeat.

I had a jingling sound on my 2000 ln167. The rubber had perished on the vibration dampener attached to the transfer case. Fixed it and jingle gone. Good times
