How To Remove Dash

Postby jameslux on Sat, 24 Jul 2010 6:57 +0000

Can anyone post some pics or tell me how to remove the dash. I want to replace the radio with a UHF and single din radio.

Thanks
James

Thanks. How do you get the rest of the dash out?

Why do you need the rest of the dash out, James?
Pulling out the glovebox (squeeze in the sides so the stoppers dislocate, pull forward and as the glovebox drops it will come away from the locaters at the base) will give you access to much of the left hand side under the dash. Plenty of room for running your UHF aerial cable etc.

Cheers

if you pull your fan speed dial ( & the other 2 as well ) off there is a screw in behind it, undo the screw & that allows you to pull the shroud off around the radio etc which gives you more access as well.

Saw a thread elsewhere here. Looks like it's hard. You can see the screws at the front of the tray behind the face of the dash. looks like you have to pull the whole thing off..

Was going to install the UHF there, but have found a good space on drives side foot-well. Will be posting picks on the install on a different thread regarding UHF installs.. \

After you remove the screws there are still 2 plastic tabs keeping it all in place on both sides. If you don't mind cutting these off the whole thing should slide out. There's not much in the way of mounting points in there. Even the small Oricom I bought needs the whole lot out as it wont quite fit in where the ash tray slides out from. It looks quite neat in there though. I want to add a bit of reinforcing into the plastic strip where I finally put the screws in as well. I also didn't want to drill into the dash so removed the small clip on panel to the left of the ash tray and mounted my hand piece there. That way if I do change cars (After spending a fortune on this one) I can hide the holes. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with these ideas.
