Fog light Wiring

Fog light Wiring

Postby sox on Sun, 17 Apr 2011 9:42 +0000

Removed my alloy bull bar from my 2005 SR5, going back to original factory bar which I fitted. Found wiring harness plugs under engine bay so I plugged in fog lights, but fog light switch was not on dashboard. I've done some research and found out SR5 did come out std from factory SR did not. I bought a OEM switch from newpro tech online thought i could find the switch harness plug under dash, looked bloody evrywhere no luck. Can anyone please help thanks.

Can't find fog light harness to plug my switch in.

The factory spotlight switch should be on the indicator stalk.

Troy no go mate my understanding is 05 to 07 had a switch on dash panel near the side mirror switch. Later models 08 to current have it on the stalk. My brother has an 09 SR5 and its on the stalk like you said.

thanks

I have an early 06 sr5 and same thing found the harness plugged the lights in.. i was looking under for a plug of some sort where i could add the switch.. as i have the full harness which came with my fog lights.. I have not checked the stalk.. I am overseas at the moment however will be back on Saturday and I can double check this.. It was annoying i must say to find all the wires and not be able to turn it on.. I thought a fuse or something might be missing...

Sox what month and year was your SR built? Check on the compliance plate.

Old thread but seeing gas Google didn't know either I went though the hilux schematics. So if you want to use a factory loom without the stalk you need to pull off the steering wheel surround. On the underside on the right side there's a connector that plugs into the indicator stalk. Green wire with black stripe is the one you want to tap into. Beside the pink wire. There's another green/black on the other end of the connector for RH indicator.. not the one you want. Pull the wire to ground to switch on fogs. There's a slight dilemma however. The park circuit is active high (goes to +12v when on) so I just put in a micro relay that switches ground when Parker's are on. Lowbeam switches low but disconnects on highbeam. While your in there unplug that two pin connector to rid the annoying fkn key in door open beeper. Also wired me reverse camera in. To save pulling up your console or going to your gearbox, pop out the glovebox you are looking for a yellow wire. On manuals the connector is clipped into the metal frame next to fan box. Auto cars that connector is plugged into the gearbox ecu. That concludes my day. Cheers

Just a suggestion I really don't know if you not able to get lights operating & also looking for wires Toyota mostly always love relays if there was no lights fitted as standard & wireing is there then it is a good bet somewhere you may have to get a relay & plug it in as well :o

Yeah the wiring is tucked up ibn the corner of the engine bay, in my case a 2011 SR i didn't have the stalk with the on off for the fogs. However the fuse an relay was there. Just ground the wire an she lit up :)
