Postby Sparow&ute on Sun, 14 Aug 2011 7:27 +0000

On Thursday i dicided to flash out a coolant from my 2006 hilux (3.0 D4D) as I refilled and started engine running for 20 min aproximently the engine cut it self off ! I wonder what happend and frend of mine has code reader and said it is P0345 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2)
SymptomsSymptoms can include:

Hard starting or no start
Rough running / misfiring
Loss of engine power

CausesA code P0345 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
the camshaft position sensor may have failed
the PCM may have failed
there exists an open circuit
the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
I am looking for help,Is anyone knows location of the Camshaft Sensor and if you do can you send me some photos or exactly location of this sensor. Thanks :|

P0345
Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit (Bank 2)
- Same as DTC P0340

P0340
Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Open or short in VVT sensor circuit
- VVT sensor
- Camshaft timing pulley
- Jumped tooth of timing chain

So.. I'd be checking your timing belt first and make sure it hasnt jumped a tooth.. (as the VVT errors are obviously for the v6 model)..

I dont know whether we have a sensor on the D4D for camshaft position sensor ?...

If liquid hasn't got spilled on to the sensor and shorted out the wiring then the most likely cause would be failure of the sensor itself.

There is a cam sensor on the front of the block, the connector for it is to the top right of the crank pulley, it has 3 wires in a grey plug.

I recently had this same problem, truck lost power and went to "limp" mode. Bought the two new sensors for 300 odd bucks, went to change bottom one first and it just fell out. Turned out to just be locking clip that had snapped! Two zip ties later and bobs your uncle.....
