I have a 2005 d4d lux, with exhaust & cat removed (smashed out) It does seem to rev a lot more freely from the bottom. No limp or engine lights, Im happy with my decision to de-restict it..
Hey guys has anyone who had these problems fixed it. Mine is starting to do it. Recently bought car and fitted 3" exhaust. But it did it with standard exhaust
Hi, I´m from uruguay, South Ameria and I have the same problem, I had clean my turbo twice and the problem persist, I don´t want to buy a new turbo !! Help Please
It's an over boost issue, the turbo psi will spike intermittently, it's a variation of A few things combined, such as age, temp and the initial design You can change turbos, ecu's etc etc as we have and you" ll waste your time and cash The below modification will sort it out of its the same issue P1251 which on the scanner comes up as intermittent steppermotor overboost
A Dawes valve and a psi gauge set up will release pressure and stop the ecu from going into limp mode Contact Taipan Exhaust for the kit Hope this helped, we spent 4 years trying to sort this out with every bloke and his dog saying it was this this and that, Taipan were the only ones who were correct they know their stuff!
Has anyone tried the Dawes valve approach. I have a stock standard 2007 d4d and has started doing this with error code p1251. I have just started towing a small 800 kg van and it comes on when I go up the first hill only As with limp mode turn it off for 30 seconds and away it goes It's bloody annoying It's cost me a small amount of a couple of hundred dollars but who wants to spend heaps and replace turbos etc for no result. It would be nice to find the answer
Dawes vavle will not work with a 1kd as thr turbo is electrical controlled and not by vacum like other cars. U other need a chip with map control or clamp the voltage.
Hey Luxxy had the same issues with over boosting all the time threw a code a couple of times I wound out the grub screw on the turbo a few turns and hasn't happened in 6 months. Check out my thread on over boosting should provide a few answers .are you running a boost gauge? Cheers matt
This happened with my 2005 Hilux 3.0 when I installed a blocking device for the EGR. I even made a 6-7mm hole in the middle as advice here but still going on limp mode... I'm running 3" straight pipe No Muffler No Cat. I then removed the EGR block and never had any problem since then...
Turbocharger sub-assembly Turbo motor driver Turbo motor driver power source Extremely low battery voltage (P0560 output simultaneously) Manifold absolute pressure sensor MAF meter EGR valve assembly Exhaust system and intake system are modified or clogged Turbo motor driver (momentary power cut) Battery voltage drop ECM
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts. Cheers, Anth - Technician - 1KD-FTV Check your injectors about every 10,000k. WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear no chips no tune ups - why increase risk of piston cracking?
My hilux just started throwing the same code dtc p1251, funny enough it happened going up a slight hill when it went into limp mode.
I booked the car into cornell diesel and the have told me that the turbo stepper control circuit fault with the car showing engine MIL & stability control light.
They also told me that the intercooler is full of oil and the egr is full of carbon build up, they want to replace the turbo and give the intercooler & egr a clean.
Is this the normal procedure for this problem, im only asking as im looking at a $4-4500k bill.
