Hey Jack theres always something else to buy haha. Well at least thats what I tell myself

I do have a small problem though, the other week just before easter I was trying this track which I eventually got up but in the process I have bent my side steps and actually hit that hard its dented my sil as well. Has anybody had to straighten their arb side steps and/or had any paintless dent removal done on a sil?? Can it but done under there?

Cheers, Josh

hey mate just wondering how you placed the carpet on the tail gate. did you use a bit of ply and attatched the carpet to the ply.

Nice setup too. hopefully get mine to that stage as soon as the tax man comes

I just measured and cut a piece of marine ply to the size of the tail gate then used qwik grip to attatch some marine carpet from bunnings as close to the black widow drawer colour as possible. Drilled and used self tapping screws straight into the tailgate. Couldnt have been easier and it makes it look so much nicer and provides a flat surface to cook/place drinks on etc etc

Nice work there Josh. How does the L2 switch work? I could see plenty of advantages to that.

It Interrupts the signal going to the add when you pull the transfer case lever from H2 to H4 and hence over to L4. Thus allowing you to remain in 2wd while still engaging the low range part of the transfer case.

Its simple to do and ive used it many times already. Very, very handy.

try this for instructions mate viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1290&p=123059&hilit=+disconnecting+front+diff#p123059

Thanks Josh.

After reading was a little dissapointed as I have an SR and apparently they don't have an ADD unless it was optioned. Before going home a quick glove box removal will confirm if my beast was optioned with it or not, I hope it was.....

Ok, so a bit of an update. Some of you may know I damaged my 5th gear in my truck somehow by towing my olds small pop up caravan along on the way back from the barrington tops the other weeknd. There was no noise, no grinding nothing then all of a sudden I couldnt pull out of 5th gear. Turns out a washer that holds the gear in place broke and allowed the gears to move more and made it harder to come out. Anyway its in at toyota now and they have agreed to cover 50% of the repair costs (as my trucks technically out of warranty) but the thing thats annoying me the most is the part that broke is in Japan and they rekon its going to be 3 weeks to get here  the thing weighs 100g surely a paper envelope and express post isnt too hard :?:

Anyway im hoping to have it back in about 2 weeks so fingers crossed.

Oh and ive finally done my shed so feel free to check it out :D

Re: Noidea's Hilux **I Finally Have My Truck Back**

Postby Noidea on Tue, 13 Sep 2011 8:02 +0000

Ok an update, Picked my truck up from toyota yesterday and man it feels good to drive again, huge smiles over my face :D :D But then again it doesnt take much to get them when your driving your sisters holden viva around while it was away

I had toyota put in the 4terrain clutch while the box was out and it feels so so much better than the stock one. I do get the 'vibration noise' everyone talks about as i still am waiting for the delivery of my new one from them, but as it hadnt arrived i got them to put this one in instead. As for the noise, its not that bad, i was waiting for a huge rattle and vibration but alas it never came. There is definitely something there in 4th or 5th at about 1600 - 1900rpm but i didnt think it was to bad and am happy to trade that off for a much better clutch feel and clutch in general.

Now as for what happened to my box, the washer that spaces out 5th gear from the casing broke and fell to the bottom (faulty part and they admitted this) but as my truck is out of warraty by 8 months but under the 100,000k's they decided to cover me for half. This was reasonable I thought as my truck is very heavily modified and could have easily said no. I wasnt to upset as i had to get my new clutch put in anyway as my stock one was ratshit and that would have cost almost what it did for all this work anyway. So in the end i ended up with:
A complete new 5th gear assembly (gear, bearings, washer etc etc)
A new flywheel spigot bearing
They replaced my rear main oil seal for good measure
They put in my new clutch
replaced gearbox oil obviously
replaced transfer case oil for good measure and did my 100k service

To say im happy to have it back right now is a massive under statement
