Sorry mate Caps don't do any good other than look cool....

Yeah Caps are a bit of a bandaid..... If you need a Cap, it means you really need a better battery/alternator. Get a better battery/alternator..... and you wont need a Cap :)

Love the Sub box.

I have the JL 13TW5 behind the seat but wouldnt mind a box i can put in and out with a decent 12 or 15 in it...
Might do something like this for a second sub....

How you planning on securing the sub box? will the passenger side rear door that its up against still open?

Yeah it still opens. It goes down the side of the seat and is moulded to the shape of the door so when its shut it locks it into place. It also has the seatbelt running down the back through brackets latched (hence the MDF panels in the box), to also hold it. I can fully remove the box if needed but yeah cause of the size its an effort!!!

Be a bit of a worry in a crash maybe.... oh well..... just dont crash :)

Thats paint on the door pods and box hey? you use the non slip checker mat stuff and three or so colours? Looks awesome hey... Seriously inspired me to actually do something with my setup.....

Also, Hows the blaupunkt stuff? My sister has all Blaupunkt in her car but 10 years old now. Was super advanced for its time when she got it though, I've always liked their gear.

Good to see a good install coming up. Seems a lot of people are complacant with spacers and a prefab box these days :(

My brother has a 3/4 finished car with all Pioneer gear from when he run a local car audio shop ages ago. I'll have to show him this thread and the good work and he might actually finish his off.... I'll send you some pics if i can find somethin

No it wont go anywhere unless it can rip a seatbelt in half. Plus the added clamping of the door. The pods are inked/printed on then 2 pak clear. I laughed about the non slip rubber matt (was just imagining it)... Its a kind of water Emerson printing process.

The Blaupunkt stuff I used was the best they had. I was the rep at the time but they have gone down hill from there. I wouldn't buy a thing from them now!!! The new stuff isn't up to par with the older gear... But Blaupunkt is owned by Bosch and they are the largest automotive non profit organisation in the world, giving over 1 billion Euros in charity.

Yeah refab boxes kill subs :( I only people knew the damage they are doing to their gear. I've a $40,000 stereo going in my Mitsi GTO I've all the gear just after another amp and I'm done - cant wait to start the expected 1 year long install lol. It will be massive. But thats being built for Autosalon.

Ah, Sounds cool. The matting stuff is what most airbrushers use, though its not much good for curvy stuff. Do you have to get this inking done somewhere or is it something anyone can do?

I dont suppose you have installed a 13TW5 before have you? Any ideas on box volume that works best?

Install sounds insane..... Hope Autosalon goes well for ya. I'd come see if it was the Perth one. Brissy is a little far away :)

Here's some of my brothers installs:

Yes i know Sony are Poo, but when the shop sell it, you may aswell demo it

This is the big one. Ended up just over 30k. Only shows the rear here. The car has no dash anymore but a sort of cockpit fibreglass front with the centre channel moulded into it. Speedo and everything is gone and replaced with Apexi RSM and other ECU gear. Got no pics of the front at the moment. Still some work to do, but he got divorced and bought a bike shop so the car has been like this for about 3 years....

axeten lol funny seeing the old Pioneer DVD stacker!!! Yeah the GTO is $40,000 in gear alone I'd hate to price out what I would charge out on the install but I'd guess $100,000 plus some. I've done a demo car for Fusion that never got finished and at that point its now rusting away on a farm and that was $60,000 in install alone... But it was a WB Stretched Limo so it was a pretty big job.

Hey Jap thanks I'll contact them thanks...

I've just bought a new tray for $150 including rollbar and lights off a new Hilux so this is how I flared the tub to fit the now 315s.

Hilux Max

Tires are 315/20/35 on rear and front 275/20/40 (just dropped back to 265/20/35 as tire was rubbing slightly at back on chassis) I've had to flare the front and back to fit these...
I can't remember the offset but here's what is available in those wheels. http://www.ityre.com/en/disks/catalog/petrol/4436/

As far as lowering I bought from Superpro King Spring kits (I know them personally thats why I get so much done by them)...

REAR: LOWERED & SUPER LOW = 4" LOWERED
HILUX 2WD 05> SR5/EXTRA CAB MY05 (NOT DUAL CAB) 40MM EYE TOY-302/100 # (you get a Supapro urethane bush kit with them I think but ask for one anyhow)

Front: 3/05 ON HILUX 2WD KUN16R GGN15R TGN16R MY05 S/LOW B KT
FL-113SL

The rear does bottom out on big bumps and you will need to drop the bump stop down to 25mm thick - I know someone who removed it totally and cracked their chassis. Also I put BILSTEIN shocks in the rear to match the new height.
Image
I've had no issues. Otherwise it drives like a dream - I can beat a SS Holden V8 ute to the top of Mt Gravatt lookout :D

If anyone's wondering why the drive-train build - keep watching.
