Just heard from a reputable info source that Toyota Argentina are building the V8 Diesel Hilux’s for the Australian market. They should be landing at Port Kembla by August 2011. Also built in Argentina, are the first 500 VW Amarok, currently been unloaded at Port Kembla too.

I'm with ya on that Helmut. I was planning on keeping this one for a while cos I don't have the pesky traction control or stability control nonsense like the new one's but having v8 in one would make a sooner rather than later trade-in inevitable. Can't wait to see some specs on it.

Hilux is definately getting a upgrade later in the year but i think the V8 might be a long shot!

even if argentina builds it it wont find its way to australia other than a display spot at a motor show.

would be good to beleive it but remember...the 70 series landcruiser needed their chassis widened to fit the V8 and that already is a bigger truck than the hilux.

Id say Dream on, its not going to happen at least until late 2012 early 2013 when the new shape comes out.... The engineering / brakes / gearbox / driveline and R & D and so forth take months even over a year to perfect.

your source is dead wrong ! , pfffft v8 Diesal ! yeah right ! 200 series v8 diesal wont even get close to fitting in a LUX !
