problem with lexus accelerator

Postby pootrol on Wed, 24 Feb 2010 3:47 +0000

seems that the lexus are now deciding to take off with no apparent warning. woman reakoned she got to 160klm with both feet on brake and it in reverse. also they think this prob is linked to 30 deaths in the usa. can any one every remember owning a electronic device that never gave a problem. why the hell do they think a fly by wire system on any thing other than an old person scooter is a good idea. it makes a cable activated throttle look pretty good.

Yeh I can see how it would be scary, but really how hard is it to knock it into Neutral should the throttle stick. Better to have the engine go bang imo than lose control altogether, fly by wire has been around for a long time and BMW and Mercedes have even tested steer by wire. Its definately a better way to go imo I also think there is some truth to the fact that the US market is in turmoil and this is a good way to try and knock imports and help revive their own market.
