I had a Detriot locker in my first cruiser in the rear (20 years ago)
I couldn't afford the air locker back then
It was one of the first so it was abit chunky but once you got used to it, it was fine
Only did the rear didn't seem to need the front as it was pretty much unstoppable
It was also in the dark ages with manual hubs putting it in the rear ment i didn't have to get out very often to put front hubs in
Suprised where it would got in 2wd
The good thing about the auto lockers is that it rules out driver error, like forgetting to put them in or forgetting to turn them off
The problem with doin' nothing is that you never know when youre finished

Just thought I'd touch base with you guys over this.....I just gave them a call to inquire about the Lokka for the hilux and they said they didnt know when they will be released, but they provided a price of $ 699

How much would it cost you reckon to install? 300bux? might walk away with it just on a grand?

I ordered a front one around a month ago. Got it for $479 delivered which I thought was pretty good. Only downside was they don't know when they will be ready. They told me the more orders the higher the priority will be to get it ready.

Anyway the deal is still listed on their website. Just mention it to them. Fronts are $479, rears are $575. Both delivered aust wide for free. http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/gfx/specials_2.pdf

Any more news on this? I am considering fitting Lokka's to both ends of my ute but am a little concerned about on road handling. My wife also uses my ute a fair bit so I don't want her to have a hard time driving it or more to the point i don't want to listen to her whine about the way my truck pushes her through round abouts. Would like some feedback on rear mounted Lokka's in 09 SR5 if NE1 has got one fitted.
My last lux had ARB front and rear air lockers and considering I already have the onboard ARB compressor I may go with a rear air locker and auto up front. But saying that I would like to give Lokka's a go in both ends as I did have some air line and seal issues with the ARB units.
Any more info or hints would be great as I am going to pick my ute up from ARB on Tuesday as I just forked out to lift her belly up so now I have some height a bit of traction won't go a stray.
Macka :?:

check last months 4x4 action mag they did a compero on different diff lockers and which included the lokka system. They liked the unit but found it was a little scarie when installed on the front of a 80 series when i t was in constant 4x4. They came to the conclusion that the detroit was the best rear locker, which sounds good to me as that is what i was goin to go anyways.

Also when i was at the 4x4 show they told me that the rear hilux diff was the same as the 80 series cruiser front so they didnt see why they would be had to get centers for our diff. Not too sure if this guy knew what he was talkin about but he cam from a detroit supplier and seemed reputable.

I thought the LN106 model had the 80's front diff but thought the new era hilux was different. Will have to do some research.

I rang them and they told me they don't make a locker for the front of the new lux so I got the air locker installed on Thursday.
