In the car section of the Herald-Sun Melbourne today was a full page spread on the test of the 3 Dual cab Utes being the Triton, Navara and Hilux.
The verdict for the best ute was obvious - Hilux.

Hey Ruggedlux, what were the main points of difference? Just so I can point them out to a mate who bought a new Navara.
Hard to get the Herald Sun up here in Darwin.8-)

rumjungle...easiest advantage for those of us in Darwin is that we hilux owners don't have to deal with Kerrys Nissan. 8-) 8-)

Obviously it wasn't a paid test because the Navara would of won hands down......good to see the Herald-Sun tell the truth.

rumjungle, Read all the long term tests and see what one is better....always Hilux.

Price is always the winning factor in theses paid short term road tests as they say the Hilux is $4000 dearer.....but they don't tell you the Hilux is $10000 better.

And when traveling in the outback you see 20 Hilux's to every one Navara.

On mine sites you always see more Hilux's then Navara's.

The dearest 4X4 ute on the market, have to wait 3 to 4 months for one, the biggest seller by 30% and they sell for a premium on the second hand market....

Why do you think the Navara is better?

Felix good article, but why did the Hilux win?

The Navara and the Trition was liked more in the article then the Hilux.

One article I read comparing 6 vehicles said the Hilux isn't a stand out in any area but it does every thing with ease and little fuss.

If they put that in a review people would think it's a typo.

But yes have to agree...it's just right in many ways and it has a "certain something" about the way it does stuff.

Hey 0lcoolone, you dont have to convince me. the power from the LUX (from a diesel) and the fuel economy is awsome.
We recently bought 2 Hilux SR dual cabs for the business (after years of Tritons in the fleet) and the blokes are wrapped. They drive long distances and are getting 100KM + extra from a standard tank of fuel over the Tritons. Resale value plus fuel saving over the life of the vehicle easily covers the extra dollars to purchase.
