Hello to all.
Just recently became the proud new owner of a denso snorkel myself. I fitted it yesterday to my car and took all of 5 hours to fit (thanks to being on dad duty all day with a cranky 1yo). Anyway the reason I am posting is to see whether anyone here has a 102mm-89mm adapter for the v6? As currently I am using 100mph tape which, while effective, is not a permanent solution. Otherwise failing that if someone with a v6 who has worked out an alternative solution could pass their knowledge on It'd be appreciated. Was considered upgrading to a diesel air box but wanted to see if anyone else has done that also. Cheers.

Cheers flip.
I found this a few weeks ago when I first started looking at snorkels and then for the life of me couldn't find it again.

No worries. Let us know how you go with it.

Don't forget to plug up the two drain holes on the underside of the v6 airbox.

So i got my snorkel in as well for the v6. I've ordered this adapter

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4PLY-Silicon ... 1438.l2649

If that doesnt work, i will try this one which taresk used:

https://www.aeroflowperformance.com/sil ... af9202-350

I will let you know how it goes.

So i managed to fit it today. Three things i needed:

45 degree silicone hose reducer (89mm to 102mm) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4PLY-Silicon ... 1438.l2649
T-bolt hose clamp 4" (100mm~) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/94100-0400-T ... 3cf5992cdd
T-bolt hose clamp 4.5"(111mm~) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/94100-0450-T ... 3aa5962607

I had to shorten the hose with a stanley knife, using the clamps as a cutting guide.

NOTE: To make the whole intake system fully waterproof on the v6 you need to plug up the two holes on the airbox. The dustcap isnt necessary to plug up because the outer cyclonic chamber will have positive pressure (as long as the engine is running).

Mine had a certificate inside the big box saying the contents have been weighed to ensure all the parts are in there.

It even came with a bag of spare bumper clips which was thoughtful.

The guy I bought it from brought it back to the UK as we can't buy them over here, would it be possible to use silicone hose 4" to connect it to the air box? Can get 90 degree elbows and some straights, haven't had a look yet as to how to go about it will need to see what space there is to work with

Yes you could use silicone hoses, it would be trial and error fitment though.

I would RTV the joins to ensure a good seal.

There is a decent amount of room to work with inside the guard, the tricky bit would be securing it, and protecting it against the panel edge where it enters the engine bay. The Denso inlet duct bolts to a bracket inside the guard to stop it vibrating loose.

Done well over 20 now.

Any of these being a 2KD-FVT (2.5 liter variable turbo with top mount intercooler) ? Would love to know if my airbox is the same and in the same position as all other luxes before I drill the holes ;)

The ones on Ebay were posted by a Toyota Spare parts department in Bathurst, I'm pretty sure dealers are the only place to get one.

That said, I honestly can't recommend them anymore, I've only had it on a few years but it has not aged well.
It doesn't seem to handle UV rays.

I've broken the top off mine once, and it has little cracks that are slowly spreading from the plastic going brittle. It's also going grey no matter how much plastic restorer or bumper black I put on it.

Very tempted to buy a new front guard and ditch it.

Do the Safari Snorkels age better?

In my experience they do, I had Safari snorkels on my last two 4wd's, they never showed any signs of age.
The Denso started going grey after about three years, it's six years old now, not sure how others are holding up.

Thanks Taresk. 3 years is pretty fast to start showing sun damage.

The plastic step on my 2008 bumper is still as black as when it was new. The chrome bumper however is crumbling away with rust
