Hi Hellbound,

I got a Denso and still haven't found someone to fit it. I'm driving to Brisbane in Sep to catch up with some old army mates, so I might have to pay Boxhead a visit and get it done right!

Cheers,

Jim

Fitted a Safari to my 1KZ, no biggie if you're handy and careful, but it took me a bloody long time. Also paid to have one fitted to another vehicle by someone I trust.

I'm paying for the next one. Mainly 'cos I'll pay a for couple or so hours of labour, but paying will save me at least one day of my time..

After looking at the TJM and Safari I definitely like the Denso snorkel the best. My local dealership has them, but hasn't fitted any so they're looking to outsource the job. I'm not that confident in cutting the panel, nor do I have any tools to do so. I'll be looking for a shop in Melbourne that has experience with the Denso snorkel, if anyone has a good experience getting one installed please let me know where.

All you need is an electric drill. A stepped drill bit ($15 from supercheap) and a pair of tin snips. Oh and a ratchet and socket to pull the air filter box out.
Use the step drill to drill the bolt holes and for the snorkel. Then use it to drill a hole in the middle of the area where the intake will run through the fender and use the tin snips to cut it out to its final size.
Simples.

Didn't use one. Got a longer bolt and nut. Screwed the nut on, then the nut insert. Hold the head of the bolt and undue the nut. It compresses the nut insert.

Did a google search. First video that came up demonstrates it beautifully.

Nice product, no noise and does not obstruct drivers vision.

So I decided I am going to fit a Denso snorkel, I called the local dealer for a price and they wanted $600 just for supply, not installed.
I will be getting mine from Bathurst Toyota off eBay..

I had one of these fitted last week, they managed to damage the panel when they pushed the inlet duct up under the panel. I'm waiting to see how they propose they will fix the panel.

Does anybody have a picture of the bracket on the pillar ?? I'm not sure if they used the correct screws

Thanks - Spurio
