Intake air drooped in temp by 8 deg and there is not as much intake loss as the others on the market.

And it looks and fits like a gen toyota accessory should.

that's awesome, my fuel usage is at 8.8 at the moment, must mean i drive like a grandad too lol. hopefully i get the same results as you.

i'll be getting it installed with my next service which is about 2 weeks away. last time i was in my local dealer they had the snorkel hanging on the wall, but when i enquired about it no one had any idea how much it was. the poster had the price $685 written on it, but the employees didnt seem to know whether that included fitting or not. doesn't leave me with much confidence...

Thanks for that. Looks like more money is going to leave my pocket. :D

I have always wondered about sucking charge air down through a long bit of sun drenched, heat soaking black plastic. Doesn't seem to be problem with the Denso at least.

Sorry Boxhead - I should put my brain into gear before I type.

Reversing the Cobra head was mentioned earlier in the thread as being easy.

I just wanted to be 100% sure that the head, when reversed, has sufficient clearance to the body work ????

That head looks awful big !!!!!!!

Hey Rosifumi. I'm not sure if my reply to your PM went through as my posts seem to be sitting in my outbox rather than sending. My phone has logged me out of tapatalk and now I am trying to figure that one out as well. Let me know if it came through or not and I will try to get some more pics up. Seems to be easier on my phone than on the computer.
Cheers

Hi guys, I've been lurking around in the background for a while now picking up ideas for when I got my new Hilux. I finally sorted it out about a month ago, and when I was looking for info on fitting a Safari snorkel myself, I found this thread.

So, first of all thanks Boxhead for bringing it to everybody's attention. When I rang my local dealership, they had never heard of it until I gave them the part number you supplied. Then they quoted $660 (not fitted - that was $260 extra), and when I said I could get one from Bathurst Toyota free freight for $500, guess what they said "we can do that, too" (I hate dealerships!)

Problem is, no-one over here in Perth seems to have ever fitted one, and I'm not trusting my new pride and joy to some apprentice to practice on. Which brings me to my question; can someone confirm that there is a "foolproof" template included in the package, and that provided I get the template in the right place, there are no other real issues with self-installation?

Thanks in advance, and I want to say what a great site this is!

Cheers,

Jim

Hey Jim. I'm from Perth and can testify that the template is accurate. It doesn't make it any easier to center punch, drill and then cut into your pride and joy. If you are NOR you are welcome to come and have a look. Send me a pm.

Has anyone had this installed on a 2007 Hilux?

I called up my local dealer and while he couldn't guarantee that the snorkel could be installed on them, he told me the price at least - $535, not bad at all. When he transferred me to services the guy said they didn't do snorkels there and suggested I call up ARB... I didn't really want to spend any more time on him and just thanked him for his time.

Hi gang, I've picked up my snorkel, and the template doesn't fit exactly to the panels, so I'm a bit wary of having a go at this myself. Does anyone in Perth have experience of a well-done fit from a particular dealership? I'm not fussed which dealer, I'll travel to wherever to get a good job.

P.S. I've tried asking a few aftermarket places, and they wont fit a snorkel they don't supply.

Cheers,

Jim

Got my snorkel installed today. My local mechanic did it for me and couldn't be happier. He did a slight deviation from the instructions and used simple rivets instead of the nutserts which is fine by me!

I was quoted $822 fitted for one from my dealership. I'd have to save about 1000 liters of fuel to absorb some of the cost because I won't be crossing any rivers any time soon.
