Anyone heard much about the Fortuna coming to Aus? If so in what spec?
I would order a 4L v6 Fortuna tomorrow for the wife.

Highly doubt it as we have the prado. Maybe get one imported privately?

I was reading a review of the new Hilux in Unsealed mag yesterday, and noticed that it said 47yrs since the Hilux was introduced.

Makes me wonder if they'll be doing something special for it's 50th like they did for the Cruiser, around 2018/19.

I have heard rumours of it coming out here, no solid evidence but it is something that was meant to be competition for the Everest and Mux ect.

Plenty of websites stating it is coming here. My local Toyo dealer told me January 2016 release, no specs at that stage.

Cheers
Steve

Curious to see how they price it in Oz. A loaded RAV4 is over $50k and Prado's sell for $60-100k. The Fortuner is coming to compete with the MUX and Everest, the former is only $50k, not sure about the latter. I can't see Toyota pricing the Fortuner in the RAV4 price range, and no matter what they do it's going to cannibalise Prado sales.

Wow... The desing team in Toyota Asia is building unappealing front ends compared to Toyota US.
Rear ends and overall styling as well.

Compare that front end with the US 4Runner:

Pretty much the same car... IFS with a linked rear.

The 4Runner would sell a lot better here than the Fortuner.. and the name would do better as well.

4Runner shares the Prado chassis, but I do agree, the bold look of the 4RUNNER would be a big departure from the more elegant Prado. There aren't any of these small truck come SUVs sold in the US much any more due to the poorer ride than a more dedicated SUV platform. Hell, Ford stopped selling the Bronco in the late 80s/early 90s which had F150 underpinnings. The Explorer changed the market in the US.

I would buy a 4Runner if in Aus. They are very sweet looking cars. They are not continuing the FJ past the current model?? A possible replacement maybe?

I doubt they would sell many 4 runners here, primarily because we pay about double what americans pay for fuel at the moment, the 4 runner being a 4.0L v6 would guzzle the fuel. How many v6 prados do they sell? probably not that many, most would be diesel, of those few a small percentage may be interested in the 4 runner... just saying ;) My friend has a fj cruiser and the thing just drinks the fuel, plus it needs 95 octane to make things worse, I'd imagine the 4 runner would be the same.

It's disappointing that' it's not coming with a V6, would've happily upgraded to a Fortuner down the track, but i'm really not a fan of diesels.
