Hilux Production News

Postby Atomik75 on Wed, 09 Nov 2011 8:48 +0000

This is from the email I received from our fleet manager at Toyota:

Think I got my new one just in time!

"As per our communication on 2 November, Toyota Fleet is committed to keeping you up to date on the latest developments with our operations in Thailand. Our thoughts are with those affected by the flooding in Thailand.
As a result of parts supply delays, production has been affected.
HiLux Production
Due to the ongoing flood situation in Thailand, there will be no HiLux production until 12 November. Production outlook after this date is yet to be decided. As a result of this production stoppage, we have been advised that January 2012 allocation has been omitted to help catch up on October 2011 to December 2011 production.
Japan-Produced Vehicles
Due to the effects of the floods, parts supply for products built in Japan have been impacted. Prado production stopped from 1-4 November and LandCruiser 200 production stopped from 3-4 November. Production following these dates is to be confirmed.
At this stage, effects of the floods are continuing and the impact to our suppliers is changing. Please be assured that recovery efforts are currently being made across Toyota.
Toyota Fleet deeply regrets the additional impact this event is having on our valued customers.
We will continue to keep you updated with information as it becomes available. "

Over the moon that I ordered mine on Monday ( SR5 Dual cab Man Diesel). And will be taking delivery on Friday.

But I was warned about this problem and for once it was not just salesman BS.

They are very few SR5 DC in dealer stock at the moment....

''They're not making Rangers and they're not making Fiestas, so we will have a lack of some of those vehicles for a period of time,'' Ford spokeswoman Sinead Phipps says. http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-ne ... 1myux.html

Mmmmmmmmm............I think they have the same problem?

I just got told by a stealer the thialand plant will close on the 1st a january for rebuild due to floods and is not expected to go in to full production till early February. This will add to long delivery times.

Ford ranger is out till April delivery already. Just tried to by a couple for work and was given the bad news. I need these vehicles for new staff coming on board. Not sure what to do now.

Get a couple of second hand, late model Hiluxes for the same price. They will probably still outlast the alternatives!
