Buy a Mitsi, now thats funny if you like the oversized wellbody! WTF, was that an afterthought or what?

I think you will find aandy's price is GST exempt for a start as the lease company claims that back, but dont forget the FBT that has to be paid each year!

Also manufacturers cant win, when Toyota drops the price yes it devalues the 2nd hand market, when they raise the price everyone whinges that they are getting too expensive, yet at the same time helping to minimise the devaluation of our lovely Hilux's. They are just trying to have their product competitive in the marketplace with all the new competition. They are very protective of their market share and hate losing it to some of the inferior products. Sorry have worked in the Toyota camp for 20+ years so know how they think. Yes my Hilux has probably just dropped a few grand but if looking for a new one they have dropped also so nothing lost.

Your spot on hendo, 6% lose on your current car at say 30k, Your paying 6% less for a new one at 45-55k. bigger saving.

I personally went new as all the second hand hiluxs on the market were high ks for the money i wanted to pay for a second hand one(35k max), 99% where white (didnt want white) and after 4 months of looking the new shape come out, all i wanted was "the new shape" and they no longer are "the new shape", now the current shape will be current for 2+ years? being only a small facelift really i dont think they will run them for all that long.

Guys,

What sort of prices would I expect for either of the following:

2012 Hilux 4x4 WorkMate - Dual Cab, Manual. Air Con, White Colour. NSW Rego, On Road.
OR
2012 Hilux 4x4 SR - Dual Cab, Manual. Air Con, White Colour. NSW Rego, On Road.

What prices are achievable? One dealer so far has said mid 45k for workmate and 50k for SR.

I know I can get better than that. But what are the best prices around? Happy to go to Sydney if needed.

Mitch.

I had a quote for 2012 SR DualCab T/D Manual with air, towbar and the option pack (all the new safety things and 17 in rims for 48,714 and that was with no bargaining him down ended up going SR5 for just over 50,so I reckon you should be able to get them down to 45 easy on an SR.

just traded 2010 D40 stx with 50k on the clock for 40G on a 2011 sr5 drive away with the usual acc for 55G.

claimed 4800 gst on the d40 and 9000 depreciation over the 12 months, this counteracted the repayments for the year and now i get to start fresh on the hilux.

My advice for what its worth is to get a quote from 3 or 4 dealerships and let them bid each other down. No one likes loosing a deal so they'll fight for it. That way you always get the best deal, even if you plan to buy it from your local dealership at least you can tell them what price you want or they should be able to get so close that it won't matter. May not be entirely ethical or the Aussie way i don't know but what i do know that i sure didn't bust my arse to save the cash to give it away. If thay want the commision let them work for it, it's only fair.
Second piece of advice see your accountant if he's any good he should be able to come up with a good way to make the purchase work for you. If he doesn't sack him! Just joking

2012 SR5 V6 Auto with reverse camera, tow bar, tint and a few other small options, ABN price $52500 drive away, also got a loan car until new car delivered as sold car private before would buy new car. 8-10 weeks loan (new model camry, couple of years old) , got the V6 as fuel cost not an issue and prefer power and smoothness plus the 5 speed auto much more than diesel (a bit over rated) but just my opinion. considered the new ranger, but untested and the SR5 has nearly everything tech as the ranger plus a few more things, sat nav!!! reverse camera, V6 will give any diesel in any model a run for the money, including the new ranger, I don't tow so no need for comments, I bought it for what suit me, not the next buyer(resale value)
As for list price, in the new model there is no premium in the list price from the diesel to petrol any more!!!

Knight thats not bad deal there!

I have been quoted $49,800 for
2012 SR5 extra cab
Black colour
and black HD steel tray

What do you guys think Of this deal?

Only thing that puts me off the SR5 is the carpeted floors. being a landscaper they will be filthy and ruined in no time.. plus the satellite nav does nothing for me..
Maybe I go for the same options above but in the SR for a quoted price of 46k (without bargaining) ?

Just to update you on all of us poor buggers that lost so much coin on the "old shape"
I just sold my 2011 sr5 d4d manual silver unmarked for $52,500.00 they would have to pay $2000.00+ stamp duty (vic).

Let's just say, there's a chance toyotas still hold their value as I believe they always will.
I enjoyed driving a new truck for 7 months for free....
Yes I bought it well.
I had a lot of interest, could have sold 3 units a week at $50k,
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

The price for a near new second hand hilux can't stay that way forever.. why would anyone pay more for a second hand one than a new vehicle? The price drop for the new vehicles must be taking a little while to get through to the second hand market.
