Your all mad. Why not get one a few years old for half price? I got my 06 SR D4D dual Cab 12 months ago for $24000. That's Nearly half price in 4 years. They don't hold their value like they used to and they aren't any better than the cheaper alternatives on the market. Not even made in Japan anymore.

Cheers,

Chris.

Pisso, that's a paradox mate. If everyone bought one that's a few years old for half the price, you'd never be able to pick one up that's a few years old for half the price.

Let these blokes buy the new ones.....so we can pick them up in a few years time at half the price ;)

Some of us salary sacrifice our vehicles (for tax gains mainly) and older cars are not an option in this case. Second hand yes, but almost new enough to not bother. May as well just get a nice shiny new car.

Personally I do it because I love having a new car every 3 years :D

Yep Agreed! and don't forget the discount your lease company gets on a new car, new updated SR5 4wd diesel Auto with tub liner and mats $43227.27, salary packaged fuel/tyres/services/rego/insurance etc.... then buy out ute from my lease company 3 years old for $19000. can't afford not to own this ute, still trying to make my wife agree.

I'd still shop around though. I got a cheaper deal on my current lease by $5k going through my own choice of dealer as opposed to what the lease company wanted. It is a Subaru though, and $43k is cheap for a SR5...sure that aint a typo? I'm with looks450...

That's harsh mate , its not about bein poor. I can't justify a 55 gee car if all ya gonna do is jack it up and put huge tires on it to look good. No offence mate but a 24 year old who says he ain't poor is either still on the tit, or started out on a good wicket. Try bein a 24 year old who has four kids, left home at 18 and is still tryin to make a name for himself.
I look at my old man buying 200 k kenworths and driving it in to the ground everyday to put food on the table, that's how I justified spending 45 4 years ago, driving over a 100k everyday, to put food on the table. And I am poor, and proud of it. Not just driving to work in my fancy polished car and staring across the road at it all day, jumping in at five driving 15 home to park it in the shed.

I'm not sayin you are, but I hate showponys, and can't stand comments like that.

Poor and proud!

Stevo,

I tend to disagree with you. I think your very rich to have four kids and to have learnt life values and to know the value of money.

It's the best experience getting out there and making it yourself. Makes you appreciate the little things more.

I have many wealthy relatives who as soon as they get there license are handed a 100k plus car (BMW, porsche, Ferrari) these guys sadly don't have any sense of the value of money.

Some of you guys really know how to devalue toyotas.
Keep the unbelievably good prices to yourselves, obviously there is a good bonus that some dealers are passing on.

Everybody has the same hours in a day, it's their choices what they do with it, I purchased my 3rd new car at the age of 22, $43,000 wrx, back in 1998, I had already owned an xr6 35k and a camry.
I was on lots of tits, never got given anything, I worked for it.
Good on anyone else that does the same by making some better decisions.

I don't want Someone else's stinking 200,000klm sr, we want nice new fresh like a virgin really :-).
No point buying secondhand near new because these cars do hold value really well (untill this post was started and replied to).
I got a new one, I get a new car every 6 months and love it!

Hope y'all enjoy upsetting the good people that payed more.....
Not everyone can buy one for cost price.

Mate what are you saying in all of that?
You buy a new car every six months??????? Do you get your money back or take a hit each time?
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

You gotta lose a shit load of coin twice a year buying like that. I could never get why there are always one year old vehicles for sale with 20-40 thousand k on them.

And that is the rub- some can get the price above, on road (and better) then sell after a year on the open market for more than originally bought for, and they have paid down maybe 12% of that price. Nice money in it for certian vehicles.

except when Toyota decides to drop 6% of the purchase price on the 2012 model to compete, effectivly devaluing the entire second hand market by that amount.

There were certian "not for profit" charrities partaking in the above a few years ago with 200 series cruisers.
