This seems more expensive than the outgoing model ? I though they were supposed to be $2,500 cheaper.

Maybe I have for forgotten how much they were !!!!!

I just read this on the triton forum. Good news for new buyers but devasting for others :(

This was in relation to the pricing being released for the new Ford Ranger which comes in at $60,000 for the top of the range wildtrak.

...and Toyota has just dropped prices on the Hilux in response. The new 2012 Lux SR5 manual TD is $50,990, a drop of $2,700 and that's after adding $2,700 worth of additional eqipment including sat nav.

Won't be too many previous model SR5 Lux owners rabbiting on about their resales. They've just had $5k+ removed off their second-hand values after one press release. That would make them the fastest depreciating DC ute out there at the moment.

These prices are gettin outta hand, its just a ute, even with a tub on the back they are still a commercial vehicle. The hilux and the cruiser used to be the workin man's ute but the costs are pushing a lot of us towards "Great Wall Maggot Mobiles"
Poor old farmer who upgrades to a new cruiser has to take out a new morgage on top of the header and combine harvy.
I suppose they need to justify the price when ya got a ute that's got an interior like the tartis.
My two cents.....

X2 if I had to buy a new one now, I'd have to have a long hard think wether it's worth the blown out price tag. That quote above is nearly 10g more than what I payed in 2008

Quotes that I got in the last 2 weeks.

Run out model

SR5 dual cab manual diesel with extended warranty and little extras like, bonnet protector, head light protectors and mats.

Best quote 49,500 drive away or 48,500 with NO extended warranty and little extras like, bonnet protector, head light protectors and mats.

But most places where around 50,000 to 51,000 drive away.

Now for the new 2012 model same as above deal, most places quoted around 53,000 to 55,000 drive away.

But I found two places that did it for $51,000 drive away. SOLD! :D
Just waiting for it to be delivered. Damn I hate waiting.

Yeah just extended warranty, floor mats, head light protectors and bonnet protectors as most of the other stuff they would put in I didn't want as I want to get my own gear.

But still not done yet...when I signed they didn't know what the new price would be. They based it off the current shape retail price and discounted that....I was told if the retail price goes up then I will have to pay the extra difference and if the price goes down they will reduce the price accordingly. I guess they weren't expecting the price to drop by $2700. I hope they live up to their word. Maybe it will be more around 48,300... Guess in the next few days I will know. Waiting for them to return my call.

I got a similar quote for the new model SR5 ie: if price goes up I can reconsider, price goes down they'll reduce accordingly. Only thing is the price went down $2,700 but "the margin has tightened" and the quoted price only dropped $2,200. The prcing is around $50K drive away for manual SR5 salary packaged...

Hi All,

I'm looking at either a 4x4 Workmate or SR Dual Cab Manual Diesel White.

The SR model has been reduced by $2900. The RRP for the SR is now $41990.

On the Toyota website when you enter the specs it ends up as $46,105.82 on road for private registration in NSW.

With A/C as a $2000 optional extra in addition to the above $46k price.

What sort of price negotiations could I expect to achieve? Given Toyota are hard to bargain with on most models.

Thanks,
mitchnewy

Happy to report the dealer came to the party. Don't want to say the exact price but I am one happy customer with how they handled the situation. Very happy with the price. Hats off to Berwick Toyota.

I got quoted $57k for the 2012 dual cab auto $4k more then what I paid for my 2009 model manual. A fair bit more I think for a different steering wheel, Sat Nav single CD radio, tweeter speakers up near the window sill. Can't really compare a manual price to auto, auto being dearer. In saying that I don't like the new steering wheel and controls. One plus is the extra blank panels for spot light switches, compressor, lockers, TT, dual battery bridge button, nos, ejection seat, light bar switch, rock light switch. I reckon next car I would go to the FJ heaps cheaper, better ride, prob more capable off road with the mods put on.

no.......we cant forget its just a dual cab ute,I can't see $55k+ worth in one to go and bash it through the bush or throw junk in the back of it, what do you get thats not available in say a Hyundai,Kia,ford, holden these days(air bags, abs, stabiltiy control, electric window, mirrors, blue tooth etc these features are mandatory in cars now for entry level money) for less than half the price of a base 4x4 hilux then ad on say $5000+ for a transfer case and a front diff and I would say $35k would be a fair figure but no where near the $50k that are asking, you can buy a flash family car like a kluger, prado, etc... for hilux 4x4 money, its a commercial vehicle and should be priced accordingly.

Mr toyota I wont buy a new one for that money.ITS NOT WORTH IT.

A new Prado (GXL) is $67000 and a Kluga is mid 50's. Second hand ones are still expensive.

Should compare apples to apples. Most of the other ute's (Ford, VW, Holden, Triton etc) are all near the 50000 mark anyway.

Its a factor of life now, you pay for what you get.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Why buy a SR5?, get a SR and spend the change on a heap gear that will make it perform and more useful.
Ive got a SR dual cab and have never been happier will amount of money saved to buy accesories that I want on it, not fancy bling.

Have I think. ;)
