I just brought a dual cab SR diesel yesterday for $39,000 with heavy duty alloy tray, denso snorkel and bonnet protector. Was december plated 2013.

Wasn't the worlds best deal but the 2014 for the same was over $45,000.

Going on what Angus paid mate I wouldn't think your too bad off. Tray would be a couple of grand plus the snorkel.

Yeah it was $2500 for tray and $750 for snorkel. Got shafted on trade in on my old hilux, but that's car ownership for you, you always loose out!! Pretty happy though that have my first brand new car, looking forward to getting it.

They are good buying at the moment and the little nice bits on a 14 spec SR is the icing on the cake.
I'll build, paint and LED light my tray for under $1k so buying it without a tray was a good idea for me, just need that elusive time thing to be on my side!

Mate as long as your happy with the new 1 it doesn't really matter. If it's been plated 14' your not too bad.

I have been looking at replacing my 2011 V6 auto SR5 as it is 3 years old in July. I only bought the SR5 as I wanted the curtain airbags and ABS as the SR didn't have them back then. Main reason for going for the bigger engine was it came with the A750F 5spd auto, diesel only had the cr@ppy 4spd auto. So have been looking at 2013 plate, 2014 compliance SR's. Manuals are very cheap especially in cab-chassis. You can pick them up for $37k drive away (plus tray). Utes $38k in 7/2103 plate MY12 model with VSC pack. $39,500 for My14 manual ute. Cheapest auto MY14 ute I've found is $40,990 but there are some 7/2103 examples around you'll get for $37,500 except they are the awful 4spd auto. I did find a good engine MY12 7/2013 plate SR ute (V6 auto) but they won't budge below $38,500 which even though it has the good engine it is probably the hardest car to sell in 3 years time (SR, no VSC, V6 and auto and 7/2013 plate in old sepc) so resale wise not a wise choice despite how much better the petrol engine versions are than the diesels (I only do 15,000kM pa so the few hundred in fuel savings is not worth the pain of having to put up with the diesel).

So if I can find a MY14 SR auto ute cheap enough I may buy it, and put my 17" Speedy Prado wheels, big tranny cooler, tranny temperature gauge, sheepskin seat covers, floor mats, weathershields, towbar etc on the new one. Only hassle is my Eclipse AVN726EA unit won't work in the MY14 so may have to sell it and get Carbon Car System's sat-nav and reverse camera. Otherwise i'll keep the SR5 V6 and put a tray on it.

Cainbree sounds about right to me, shop hard enough you might be able to get the same deal in an auto..... you should be able to pick up a 2013/14 complaint SR5 manual for about 49k thereabouts..the bar, lift, tyres and towbar are your big ticket items (totalling around 6k the rest are just small ticket accessories with no significant value.

Cheers guys, have now signed up for my purchase, I get it at the end of June as ARB have to order in the lift kit. 4 more weeks of impatiently waiting. Cant wait as this will be my first new Hilux, had my first for 6 years, sold when it turned 20 years old. Most reliable 4x4 I have ever had.

What coils did you order as part of the suspension? OME coils are notoriously crap and sag in weeks if you don't get the heavy duty ones and what leaf springs?

Have you got any plans on installing a secondary fuel filter/water separator?

I got the medium kit( up to 400kgs) spoke with them about having both the bar and winch and towing every now and then, they suggested this kit will be fine to avoid sag.
I haven't thought about the 2nd filter yet....

If you never leave the city you probably won't need a second filter, just diesel in remote areas can have impurities/water, common rail systems tend to not like impurities so its just like a safety precaution.

The medium springs will probably sag with a winch and bullbar, im not trying to be negative, just I have read it on here time and time again OME coils tend to sag alot and it could save you having to replace them later on.

If your getting a steel bar and winch I'd opt for a HD spring, id rather it a little stiff then sagging on the bump stops, in saying that they may have already done something like that, HD at the front medium duty at the back? $2000 is quite a bit for suspension, you could of got a monster rides rekon kit plus rear leaves for that which lets you wind up the ride height and is no doubt a better piece of kit, OME make some great stuff just I have never been a fan of their suspension. more often then not the guy at the store selects the wrong springs whereas a proper suspension specialist will know what to give you.

maybe just see how you go, you have consumer warranty in Australia, if they are crap and sag you are entitled to a replacement or full refund despite what ARB may have you believe 8-)

I picked up my new Hilux last week, I opted for the premium seat pack.... that is leather and leatherette with electric drivers seat. I was told that Toyota are now discontinuing this option.

does anyone know an easy way to install new coilovers in a 2014 hilux, I had the old ones out but because the new ones are 2inchs longer I couldn't fit them. I was under the impression you didn't need a spring compressor.
