Egads, that thing hasn't just been touched by the ugly stick. It's been flogged to within an inch of it's life. Just think boys , our current lux's will probably be worth more than we paid for them if they use the same looks for the new lux. ;)

The funniest thing is that back in 2004 everyone said the same thing about this current Hilux. So ugly doesn't look like a 4wd. Now ppl think it looks good and makes an awesome 4wd.

I reckon it looks awesome

So was I but apparently not. A mate bought a new Colorado with VSC and Holden even OKed a lift. The 4wd Association has done a lot of negotiation on this sort of stuff post VSI50.

At least that 4 runner still has a stick for the transfer case. I cannot stand push button 4wd. Always stuffs up.

This.

My checklist to trade my 07 in on a new model Hilux.

~ Stickshift transfer (must have)
~ 31's standard
~ Bigger powerplant
~ Doesn't look like the 4runner ( :P )

Options:

~ Able to change reduction gears in transfer
~ Better stock gearing to run bigger tyres.
~ more neutral offset rims (positive 10 or 15 from stock)
~ Many more i'm sure.

It would certainly have to tick all the boxes for me to trade up to a Gen 8 Hilux.

the front end of that 4 runner is fugly but with all the edgy body lines i think a few awesome looking plate bars will start coming out of the aftermarket world

also ive heard twin turbo v6 i hope that is true. they have to do something their getting left in the dust

The 2014 Hilux will have the new `family` face similar to the new Rav4 (looks like a Mitsubishi to me )

WTF are Toyotas designers thinking??? Toyotas design is f-ugly. I had an 09' Avensis, i didn't like the looks of it. And all the other models also (new 200, 150, Rav4 etc) maybe japanese people like it but the rest of the world? Only positive thing is the reliability, other than that...i would go and buy something better looking.
7th gen Hilux has quite nice design, i hope that they will continue with the same design...
one more thing....Toyotas engeneers should go and take some lessons from european car builders how to make interior ergonomic. At the moment they are failing in ergonomics big time (even Lexus doesn't have decent seats compared to german cars).

Would look alright 8-) and as long as they leave enough room in engine bay for a twin turbo v6 and duel batteries and a air compressor and secondary filter :? You can't swing an ant under the bonnet of a colorado.

Here is a summary of some of the changes I found online today regarding the next update release of the Hilux

Some of the Changes for 2013 Tech Change

• All 4X4 Hilux variants will now carry a 5 Star ANCAP rating.

• Hilux will now have factory fit display audio on all variants with Toyota Link Connected Mobility standard in SR and SR5 grade, (SR5 grade will also get Navigation as standard)

• All variants will now have AUX & USB input.

• SR5 grade variants will adopt a factory fit reverse camera as standard.

• VSC +TRC + EBD + BA standardised across all 4X4 variants.

• 4X4 Workmate grade has been deleted.

• SR grade will adopt Multi Information Display & Optitron Combimeter (to match SR5)

• All variants will now have Audio steering wheel switches (SR & SR5 will also have MID + Telephone + Voice Recognition switch).

• Double Cab will now have rear centre 3 point seat belt

• Automatic Transmission for Turbo Diesel engine change from 4 speed to 5 speed.

I have no idea what the planned release date for this is though.
