Windshield Mounts for a 52inch LED Bar

Postby GlenF on Thu, 02 Jul 2015 9:24 +0000

G'day everyone,

So this is my first post in this forum. Anyway, I have a 2013 SR5 Hilux and I have just recently purchased a 52inch LED light bar that I would like to mount on the roof just above the windshield. I am just having trouble trying to find any sort of mount capable of fitting it. I have done a whole heap of looking on ebay and came up with nothing. I also came across an Australian company called Bullseye 4x4 on facebook which looked promising but their windshield mounts only fit a max of 51.5inches. Does anyone know of any custom fabrication companies that would be capable of making a bracket to suit?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Not super helpful, but I have the Bullseye 4x4 mounts for my 42inch bar and the work really well. Really solid mounting and no vibrations.

If you send them a message they might be able to adjust one of there mounts to suit a bigger bar. I found them helpful with sorting mine out.

52inch could be huge over a Hilux windscreen and could over hang on each side. This is mine with a curved 42inch and the bullseye mounts:

Reckon you'd be doin well to fit a bar that big up there without it hanging over the edges! I made my own to fit a 42in one.

I have heard that there has been a crack down on the roof mounted and top of bullbar mounted LED bars.

realistically to not get any hassles from the cops you can only go as big as what fits on the front of your car..

Saying that, I have seen someone who made a electronic flip up cover to hide it, but that wouldn't work on a curved.

Ive been RBT'd multiple times with it up there and its never even been mentioned. I was actually pulled over and made to remove my fishing rod holders and the light bar still wasn't mentioned. Have had it up there for more then 12 months.

I do mostly run it on the road with the fuse out of the wiring harness, unless we are on a trip or I'm heading out west at night. Just for peace of mind in case I do ever get hassled.

WA Dept of Transport won't allow a LED bar light to be mounted above (higher than) the front edge of the bonnet, and I hear the coppers are enforcing it.

Yeah that's what I've heard... maybe it's just a WA thing?

I ran mine through a 20mm elect gland through roof panel, I removed rear view mirror and went through there that way no need to remove head liner,

To be legal in vic I need to behind the B pillar (not on but behind)
If it is above bonnet height
Law was passed 1-9-16
