Rusting stone chips

Does anyone have a solution to prevent rust forming from stone chips?

My bonnets got quite a bit of stone chips appearing on it, and even some up on the very front of the roof, and they look like they're starting to get a little rust in them. Is there a prevention for this? Or a good way to get the rust out of them?

Might have to invest in a bonnet protector I think.

The car's got an electronic rust module in it too - they're proving to be useless.

Ooops, posted in the wrong hilux thread, could a mod move this to post 05 please?

A dab of touch up paint stops the paint lifting and rust going any further and cheaper than a full repaint of your bonnet

Rust will still spread under touchup paint. U need to clean the rust with rust converter, if u scrub hard enough with cloth and converter, the rust with clear away (any that wont goes black to show its working). Once ur finished wash with water wet rag, and dry immediately with dry clean cloth. Then touch up paint

Yea! Well I don't remember seeing that 4 weeks ago when I was heading on the barge to moreton island. So I'm starting the think sand blasted the under side doing somewhere around 800km on sand with the mix of salt water.

You can also use penetrol. I use it at work for when theres a rusty steel beam that you csnt get access to replace it etc. Its a clear spray that seals the rust from the atmosphere so it doesn't rust any further. I use abit on my lux where needed. Its expensive though.
